I just put together a Tikka 6CM. I'm having issues with Hornady factory ammo in 108 ELD-M and chambering rounds. I tried some Federal 107 SMK's and don't have the issue. Has anyone else had issues? I've tried 2 different lots with the same results. Some rounds I simply can't run in far enough to run the bolt handle down. Extracting an unfired round can even be difficult at times. I've put 35 rounds down this barrel so far.

That looks like you have a chamber issue. I would paint the 107s with a black sharpie and chamber them and see if you are also jamming those.

What barrel company? I had similar issues with my PVA, it wouldnt chamber rounds either after 80 rounds. Similar marring . I sent it back to them and they fixed it

I gave up on the 147 ELDM in 6.5 PRC for the same reason. Had multiple bullets seemingly evaporate. Hornady acts like they’ve never heard of it. There’s tons of testimonies and posts on here and elsewhere. Move on to Berger or eldx.

Take it back to the smith for sure and show them. They should feed/chamber/extract with zero issues.

I’ve shot 5 or 6 Tikka 6CMs with factory 108 ELDMs and this is not what happens.

Think that was a pretty limited batch which had screwy freebore. I talked to them about it. My PVA 6CM from a few months ago doesn't have that issue thankfully.

Yea mine was from last year's fourth of July sale and I know of a couple other guys that had Tikka 6cm from them around the same time with finicky chambers. they shot through it and never quite got as bad as mine. They made it right but it was still a pita, luckily my friend has all the tools to help me with it

When you say "shot thru it" what do you mean? Thx

well one guy who I pmd before contacting PVA who had posted about having issues with 108 eldms and his PVA switched to 105 bergers and said he didn't have any issues after. this was on the suggestion from PVA who said to try begers bc they claimed ELDM doesn't have the best qc and were possibly out of spec which is why they weren't feeding. pva also said if he sent it in and nothing was wrong they'd charge him for bench time. That sounded a little high and mighty and made me a little nervous bc I had just bought a case of 108s but when I contacted PVA ( dealt with Ben) they gave me no trouble and it was very easy for the "warranty". Sent me a prepaid label and said send it in. Once they got it, they checked it and confirmed tighter than spec freebore. they fixed it and sent it back to me and it shoots fine now with the same lots that wouldn't feed.

Then my friend who ordered a 6cm from them same time as me had issues with certain ELDM factory lots. he eventually got other lots and it fed better, we chalked it up to a bad lot of hornady. This was before mine had issues though, so out of spec freebore wasn't really on our radar. if his gets sticky I think it's likely he will likely send it in for them to check and fix and ours were cut right around the same time.
this was his thread.

Very helpful. Thank you. I'm having my GS double check everything. He's a good dude so I'm sure we'll work thru it.
