Well. @Jason Snyder would have been just one point behind my 145 score for 2nd place but he honorably self deducted 10 points.

This puts @T_Widdy as the next highest scoring shooter unless I missed one.

I would rather not set the course of fire two times in a row, so @T_Widdy do you mind running September?

Ha! That’d be fun, but it’s a SLIGHTLY higher barrier to entry if everyone has to travel to Bozeman first.

September HORSE
Same yardage, same target, same tie breaker as original @Bluumoon post

H- 20 seconds x4- build and break prone accuracy check
1) starting with pack on and rifle in hand condition 3
2)drop to prone, use whatever front rest you like and fire 1 shot in 20 seconds. Repeat 4 times.
3)x ring to count


O- 40 seconds-utilize dual rests while kneeling or seated,
1)starting with pack on, gear stowed and rifle in hand condition 3
2)drop to kneeling or seated and set up front rest and rear support, use whatever you would be most stable with, I’m trying out tripod front and using my pack as the rear rest. Shoot 2 shots in 40 seconds.
3)10 ring to count

R-30 seconds-pack rest
1) starting with pack on and rifle in hand condition 3
2)go to seated or kneeling and shoot off your pack as a front rest. 3 shots in 30 seconds
3)inside 9 ring to count


S-20 seconds-Formi’s fav
1)starting with pack on, trekking pole extended in one hand, rifle in the other hand condition 3
2) kneeling or standing use your single trekking pole as your only front rest and fire 2 shots in 20 seconds(be safe the rifle can fall off the trekking pole easily if your not clamping both with your off hand)
3) inside 8 ring to count


E- 20 seconds- I liked this one from @mxgsfmdpx
1)Start from standing with pack on, rifle in hand, condition 3.
2)Use a tree branch, pillar, 2x4 standing up, hockey stick, tall boulder, tall stump, shade structure support pole, etc. anything tall enough to allow you a standing/supported shot (if using a tripod it must be stored how you pack it on a hunt). Shoot 3 shots in 20 seconds.
3)On Paper.

Finally had a chance to shoot while it was cool.

I did not get one round off in time on the R stage, hence the 8 score. Truth be told, I really disliked this position. I’ll need to play with this position some more.

Good course of fire. That was fun.

Shot today. Not sure WTF I was hitting left on H. I did just throw this barreled action, scope, and stock together and may not have torqued everything (almost certainly didn't). BUT just before this I shot two 10 round groups with tall bipods and tripod rear (comparing the standard Ckyepod Triple Pull and a Ckyepod with the R3D legs) and everything was centered and tight enough. Held on the right edge of the X for the rest of the targets, which was annoying. I didn't have a trekking pole with me for S because I didn't read the course of fire until I got to the range, used a broom stick instead, hope that's kosher.

H - 30-3x
O - 20-2x
R - 30-1x
S - 20-0x
E - 30-2x

Total: 130-8x

Enjoyed the mixed course of fire.
