100 Elk Harvested Myth or Factual

It is hard to believe someone could hit 100 unless they were a dirtbag poacher who was skilled at not getting caught. I guess if you had a family of 12 you could go through that many elk a year. If weren't trying to feed a small army, what would be the point?
No argument here, I’m just trying to weed out the BSers. I seen this statement twice this morning in 2 different YouTube videos in comments. I’ve seen the same statement over the years on other forums and maybe one similar on this forum.

Are 100 dead elk considered a "pile" on the internet? If not, what is a pile of elk?

I shot two cows during one encounter on the last afternoon of my hunt a few years ago and that seemed like a pile at the time.

Merriam-Webster considers a pile a "quantity" of things heaped together. So I think as long as the elk were touching at some point I'd call it a pile!

I would also add that if someone actually did it and felt the need to brag online, they are a tool. It is more likely that they killed 10 and are trying to compensate for something.

In our 39 years of hunting Wyoming, between the 2 of us I bet we've taken close to 100 elk. Not quite but close.
At least 1 general or LQ license each year and at least 2 cow tags a year.
It adds up if you shoot a bunch of cows.
That's where I was gonna go. 100 bulls - no. 100 cows - sure.

People love to throw that poaching line around. If guy could legally shoot 3 a year or maybe more if diff states.

And not sure why folks have issues with 243 - LOTs of people shoot elk with 243.

I have no issues with a 243, That was the cartridge they happen to use in both statements. I have 2 myself just don’t use them for Elk, I have other cartridges more suited for that.

I know of more than one person that has shot 100+ elk. I probably could be close but I just can't use more than one elk a year in my family so I will never reach that number.

Years ago RMEF had a questionnaire asking how many elk have you killed and did an article on the results.
I remember them throwing out one response that claimed 30-some kills stating their reason as basically
"that's just bull$hit".
I knew a few guys who doubtless had that many.
I quit being a member shortly after.
