Anyone running the 100gr eld vt in a 6.5 creedmoor? I imagine they are not fur friendly. I stumbled into a deal for a new rifle and don't have plans for big game with it, but probably will take it out calling this fall.

I just worked up a load for my 6.5x47lapua. I’m running varget out of a 26”McGowan barrel at 3440fps this thing should be a laser beam. I haven’t shot anything but paper with it yet.

I have taken a deer with them from a 6.5 Grendel.
-Muzzle velocity from 16" barrel: 2615 fps

-Shot distance: 245 yards

-Impact Velocity: 2149 fps

-Shot angle: Sitting up on a hill and deer was slightly quartering to

-Bullet performance: Bullet entered the spine, blew part of the backstrap apart, severed the spine, obliterated the top of lungs and also lascersted the lower part of the lungs due to the fragmentation, traveled about 7-8" and exited mid body just before the liver.

-Deer weight: About 120-130lbs

- Deer reaction: Dropped and didn't move.

1st picture: Bullet exit.
2nd picture: Top half of one lung. Forgot to take a picture of the other lung
3rd picture: Lascerations from the "fragmentation" of the bullet
4th: Lungs and Heart removed to show other pieces of the lung sitting in side the chest cavity.

That’s what I use and absolutely love them!! I have a couple videos of hammering coyotes 500 plus yards with my thermal. They aren’t the best on fur, but I don’t want them to escape. I’m not worried about the fur so much.

Thanks for this info. I just loaded some up for my Grendel to test for accuracy.

A friend that I night hunt with is running them out of a 6.5 Creed AR-10 and they hammer coyotes. No runners, but he doesn't save furs either.

Not fur friendly in the least but when you want something dead right now the vt are fantastic at doing so
