Will I ever have enough for the red desert units? I think I'm willing to hold out and build points for a few more years if need be. I really want a B&C pronghorn. What would you do with 10 points?

Here's my take on it. I'm 35 and have 12 points. My good friend is 53 and retiring next year. I told him to start buying points last year and let's go hunt goats in 2027 we will have a combined 8 pts going into the draw. I could draw some damn good units but would rather have a good hunt with a good friend. I have same points for deer and elk that I will continue to build. No idea what I'm going to do with them for now. Maybe I'll cash them in in a few years. Find a good unit and just go hunt...

You're only 10 points behind max, so I guess you could wait and see.
Personally, I'd spend special money and go hunting next year in the best unit my points would get me regardless of how many points I had.

I used my 8 pts in the special draw and got a good unit that should have taken 7 pts per the recent odds. That said, I wasn’t looking for a monster goat either. The timing just worked out and we decided to go for it.

Have you hunted pronghorn before, can you field judge them accurately?
If no I'd look for an outfitter for a book buck or really brush up on field judging them.
I have 1 B&C buck and had no clue he was that big when I shot him.
Mass is hard to judge.

If you are a non resident you are wasting your time those are 17-max points unit and they don’t stay the same they go up. Every year. You will not catch up. And those units got crushed in the 22 blizzard.

Buy a NM landowner tag if you must have a B&C antelope. I don’t think that’s as easy of a task as you think it is.

Take a look at how many tags are issued. If antelope number increase tags may increase over time as those herds recover. If there are winterkill years tag numbers could be cut even more than they are. Also keep in mind that if Wyo cuts the proportion of nonres tags it could also take longer to draw.
