1-6 or 1-8 scope for AR

Under a thousand, there’s only one worth anything- SWFA 1-6x HD.

That is if functioning correctly and holding zero matters to you.

Old thread, but @Formidilosus, does this still hold up in 2025? I know the SWFA has the durability going for it, but FOV seems smaller than current offerings, and the large ring in the reticle seems like it would not be great at 3-5x.
Under $1k, is there a better option than the SWFA for a durable, all-purpose 1-6 LPVO?

I have not particularly been a Vortex fan but I recently put a Vortex Striker 1x6x30 on my Grendel and has been pleasantly surprised. Like everything about it. I bought the older 1x6 over the newer 1x8. I didn't like the reticle change and looking at reviews others had the same comment.

For LPVOs under $1000, check out Trijicon Credos or Accupoints (illuminated), or Ascent (not illuminated but cheap).

The Razor 1-6 G2e can be found for $1k frequently. Focus Camera has them on sale pretty often.

The Primary Arms PLXC is a fantastic scope and can be found for close to $1k. I haven't seen one under $1k yet.

SWFAs 1-6s are gone.

Used SWAF 1-6x or Trijicons.

The new Vudu 3-9 is interesting, they pop up on GAFS but are gone quickly. I have a 12.5" 6.5 Grendel that I think that thing would be perfect for.

I have a NX8 1-8 on my work rifle. I find that using both eyes on CQB situations isn’t a problem and the dot is more than bright enough to use like a red dot. And it gives me the option of going further out.

Surely a great scope, but I thought the question was under $1k?
