I have had cooper AT3's, geolander at's and now have Hankooks. I went with the Hankooks this time because the dealer told me I will get a little bit more life out of them than the other two. The bigger thing for me is making sure that they are rotated every time you get an oil change. Doing this I can expect 50k out of a set. And that includes plenty of gravel roads.

I have blistein shocks and BFG 255/80/17 MTs. They are the tallest tire you can get under it without more lift. Its a skinny tire but it gives me good clearance and I like the look.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs are my choice for my 05 Tacoma. They have had significantly better wear and traction than my old BFG All terrains.

What kind of mileage are y'all getting out of the duratrac's? After I put Bilstein 5100's on the front with new coils I shouldn't have any issues with clearance on the duratracs, so I'm considering them if they can last a while.

Depends on how you treat them. I'll be lucky if I see 25K with mine but have a friend that got 45K+ out of his.

I drive like an 80 year old man and rotate the tires with every oil change/5k miles. I'd guess 50k on them, which isn't enough for me to forgo the michelins, so that's what it looks like I'll be buying.

I rotate mine every 5k but I have a right pedal issue. Hard to beat a set of Michelins for tread life, my last set was still over 3/4 tread after 25k miles.

my brother's big duramax is the litmus test for me and AT tires. the Duratraks wore out very fast with his truck. i love the look of them. i just can justify buying a tire cuz they look cool. when i was younger, i put BFG mud terrains on a jeep. awesome looking. awful on the highway. lesson learned, almost. haha.

oh, i put OME shocks on my truck. i like them alot. much more cushiony on the rough stuff, than my buddies same truck with the stock Bilsteins.

its all relative, i expect serious performance out of my tires off road. i though my first set of bfg's were amazing on road! but thats what happens when you grow up on super swampers

I'm going to be replacing the rear leafs and shocks and the front coils and shocks. Turns out I got a reasonable deal on this truck for a reason, the suspension was shot.

Yep, it's all original, so it's a nice blank canvass to work with.

Trying to decide between the OME package that Wheelers Off Road offers for it, or going with Bilsteins front and back, OME coils and a Wheeler 5 leaf.

Any reviews on either option aside from what's above (thanks boom)? I don't mind a stiff onroad ride if the offroad is really improved.

I have a 2001 Tundra TRD 4x4 I bought new in the fall of 01. In the Fall of 2002 (had about 15,000 miles on the truck) I ditched the stock tires and wheels and installed the Sway A Away 2.5 Coil Over shock set for the front. I did the differential drop kit Wheeler's sells and upgraded the CV Boots to some burly ones made for a Porsche 930 from Kartek. I then did the Wheeler's Off Road add a leaf kit for the rear and ran with the TRD Bilsteins until this spring when I upgraded to the Bilstein 5100 rear shock. Wheels are AR23s from American Racing. Tires at that time were BFG ATs LT285/75R16s (11+" Wide by ~33" tall). I rotated and balanced them every 5000 miles.

I moved to Anchorage in 2006 and purchased a set of studded Copper Discoverer M+S tires in LT235/85R16 (~9" wide by 32" Tall). I have run those studded tires ~4 months out of the year ever since. My truck is just shy of 100,000 miles and I finally had to ditch the old 33" BFGs. I decided I am bit wiser than I was 10 years ago so I went with a slightly smaller tire, some new BFG ATs in LT265/75R16 (~10" wide by 32" Tall). To make a long story short I have had amazingly good success with BFG ATs. Costco had the best price, but I did have to have them installed somewhere else because the tire size is different that what is on the door. I think the trick is to ensure that the wheels are both balanced and rotated every 5K. Tire guys would gripe that I wanted them balanced every rotation, but every time they gave me a sheepish look as something needed adjustment.

Lot of good tires out there, not saying they BFGs are the best, but I got serious mileage and performance out of mine... I sure do appreciate having new shoes on my Tundra though! : )

i joined Tacoma World, because Wheeler offered them a discount code. not so sure this is still offered, but 10% is 10%.

your truck is gonna be sweet. i just put an add a leaf in back. super fun install. i did it with a buddy with a spring compressor bolted to his garage wall. i want a new leaf pack. i'll do this when i get back to El Paso. i know a shop that does a custom leaf pack.

those Bilsteins get confusing to me. some of them provide lift. by turning a big nut or something.
