Hey chat,

I currently own the Kelty cosmic down 0 degree bag, while it’s great for the cold - it is ABSURDLY big to pack, unpacking it next to my buddies peax was comical.

Looking for the best options that are more so “budget” friendly, I’ve heard the Paria Thermodown 0°F is solid and comes in around 3lbs

Recommendations appreciated, looking to spend sub 300

Please don't do the puffy jacket and pants thing. I know some people can do it fine, but I did it the past two seasons and it was miserable and led to many sleepless nights and brutally cold mornings. I would check Camofire regularly, they have good deals on bags from time to time. Black Ovis makes a cheap 0 degree bag that seems to have decent reviews. Everything else I have from them is incredible. My buddy got one but has yet to use it, but it seems to be a quality bag, yet it might be bigger than you want. I had the same issue, so I ended up just finding a deal on the new Argali bag and I got it for $500. I think its gonna be real hard to find what you're looking for for under $300, but I hope you do! I often see good deals on very nice, used bags in FB groups - might be worth checking out.

I just bought the Sea to Summit spark 0 degree bag during their Memorial Day sale, 2 lb 7 oz.. Feels nice but will not be able to test in cold temps.
A few days later I found a sale on the Western Mountaineering Antelope 5. Also 2.7 lb oz.
They seem very comparable. My wife prefers the sea to summit, as it feels softer and loftier. I think I am sticking with the antelope 5 as it is made in America and they have a great reputation on here.
Send me a message if you are interested in getting the sea to summit spark bag from me before I return it. Never used.

Closest thing to your budget and general criteria that I'm aware would be a Cumulus. I've been in the market for the same thing and been eyeing different variations they offer. This one is closest to your budget but they have several options that beat the prices of hunting brands with similar materials and fills. Not sure if tariffs will effect the total price of these, but if not this is probably the direction I'm going.

+1 for Outdoor Vitals. I have had a summit 0 degree bag for years and it has been great. Don't use it as much anymore since I got their 15 degree quilt.

i absolutely agree and i posted something about that in sheep hunting part of the forum.

I use the Kifaru Slick 0 degree. Packs down nicely, got it on sale for $280 a few years ago. I can actually use it down to -10 with a puffy and thermals on.

Ken
I have not used the slick bag, but the APEX insulation that Kifaru uses does not pack down well at all compared to any decent down product. I have found most Kifaru products to be overly bulky. Bombproof, but bulky.

Its not a 0 degree but seems to be in the realm of your needs. I dont have any personal experience with this brand though.

For hunting where and what?

Rarely does someone need a true 0 degree bag. Also, don't think you will get anything worth its money under $300.
im using one every year when hunting in the fall here in the mountains of the yukon but i do not use puffy down jacket or pants and always sleep well ...
