Anyone still using a NEF huntsman/sidekick Muzzleloader?

I have one but don't use it anymore after getting an Accura. My dad still uses his when he goes muzzleloading. Best loads we got out of ours were powerbelts. It shot all of them well. 295gr, 338gr, 405gr. All shot with Triple 7.

    First Time/Last Time Trips

Yea. He didn't pack much thankfully. Couple bags of clothes, cot, sleeping bag, and his rifle. The real headache was driving back home. We drive straight through and had two vehicles. 20 hour drive with 2 vehicles and 3 people made swapping drivers and getting sleep a rough trip. I think he...

    First Time/Last Time Trips

I've been involved in two different "one and done" trips in my ~10 years of hunting Colorado. Both elk hunts and both guys from my area (north Louisiana). First one was a family friend that wanted to go with us. 2nd rifle season and relatively warm weather when we got there and made camp...

    300 Blackout 190 Sub X Results.

I just loaded up some in a 308 this past weekend. 9.0gr of Clays Fed 155M 1045 fps I saw decent accuracy out of them as well. Just under 1" at 50 yards. Hopefully get to try them out on a deer this weekend during the rifle opener. Good luck!

Is this normal for brass to have a flat side?

You are correct in your assumption that it will go away during sizing

    270 win 25yard range

Sighting in at such short range adds importance to a couple things since the errors are getting magnified. One of those is sight height. When plugging in the info into a ballistics calculator, you have to enter the height of the scope reticle above the centerline of the bore. This typically...

Questions on Mechanical scales and check weights

Yes. Get a set. I probably have to adjust the scales more often than not to match the check weight so they definitely have some utility.

Do I Know Enough To Use A Chronograph?

Knowing the velocity is always useful. Velocity and pressure are related so if you are getting significantly higher velocities than published data, you could be getting over pressure with little to no evidence on the brass or from the function of the gun. As far as reloading knowledge needed...

    Muzzleloader Cleaning w/ Blackhorn 209

In my experience, BH 209 doesn't draw moisture from the air, certainly not to the extent of black powder or substitutes. I've left mine dirty for days with no signs of rust, albeit mine is a nitride barrel so that could be a contributing factor. Light coating of oil and then a couple dry patches...
