I have the Meopta 5 3-15x and its a great scope. Be aware the reticle is pretty thin and might be tough to see in the woods.
The Trijicon Huron has a better reticle for looking in shadowed areas and might be a good fit for you. they go for about $400, but you can find deals in the below $400...
I cannot comment on the zeiss, but the meopta has a fairly fine/thin reticle. For me its ok in low light, but the reticle is tough to see in heavily shadowed areas.
The Trijicon Huron I looked through had a thicker/better reticle for heavily shadowed areas.
I tried out all of the burris scopes in the sub $400 price range and some in the $500-$600 range. I was completely unimpressed. Quality was just not there, glass was the worst out of the scopes I checked out and tracking was off. The only exception was the burris Veracity, seemed pretty decent...
I am using the weaver brand 6 hole rings. made in USA, seem like good quality and the scope has not moved. They also have a 4 hole model if you want something lighter weight. I'm not droping my rifle all over the place though, so no idea yet how they hold up to impacts.
Most folks are going to...
Looking at getting rings and found these weavers locally. Seem decent and MiUSA. I was curious if anyone else had experience with them good/bad?

Just curious, what is a good reticle for 200-500 yard hunting? I feel like I have seen so many people complain about bad reticles, I have yet to see anyone say what a good reticle is or who makes one.
I'm pleased to see the Huron getting tested. I'm currently deciding between the Huron, Credo...
Yep that was what I found. The huron was definitely usable, but a bit shorter on the eye relief and the overall eyebox was a bit tighter then the Optika 5 I was comparing it too as well.
I liked the optika5 I was able to check out, so I will probably pickup a 3-15x44 when they get in stock.
New here, but, like you are doing a ton of research on scopes in this and slightly lower price points. in the $1k price range. From my notes these ones seem to keep coming up as top performers.
Nightforce SHV is in your budget in various magnification ranges and options.
Trijicon Credo...
Changing the subject slightly, but related topic. Whats peoples opinions on these rings?

Yeah I am looking at the Credo. The one you linked can be found on sale at a couple places for $500, so its definitely in play. Is there any difference between the credo and Huron besides light reticle? I have read in several places they use the same specs for each scope, its just the reticle...
Had a friend offer to show me the ropes when it comes to whitetail hunting. So began the deep dive into different firearms, scopes, scope mounts, ammo etc. This forum has been an amazing resource of information.
Everyone seems to really like the Tikkas on this forum and it just so happened I...
Eh, 7 days is no big deal for me. An archery forum I'm active on requires 20 posts to even get access to the classifieds forum section (its blocked/not visible to anyone who has less then 20 posts), so 10 is pretty lenient in my opinion.
Folks were talking about clutter earlier on due to all...
I thought about the SWFA fixed magnifications copes, but the lowest they have in stock is 10x. I had kinda assumed (maybe incorrectly?) that at higher magnification the field of view became too narrow for hunting.
SWFA does have the 2.5-10x ultra light, but it seems pretty similar to the Huron...
I was not initially planning on getting into this until next years hunting season, but I found a new stainless, 20", Tikka CTR in 6.5cm for $985 with plus a $75 rebate. $910 seemed like too good a deal to pass up.
There is an Optika5 3-15x44 that I assume would be better for longer range...
Yes I have read those! really enjoyed the read too. I even tried out a fullfield based on Forms review to see if I liked it, but I was very disappointed with the quality of the newer model (E1).
I was looking at the Optika5, obviously a different model then the 6, but hoping that it was made...
Hi all, I'm new to the hunting and pretty new to firearms too. Been shooting air rifles for a bit, but I want to start learning to hunt larger game, starting with whitetail. I picked up a tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 Creedmoor and am looking for a decent scope. Budget is $500 or less.
What do you guys...
