What did you do in the reloading room today?

Please post results from your bushing and mandrel testing. I’m very curious. Trying to decide on making the plunge into mandrel dies.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

6.5 Creedmoor with some 130 ELD-M’s, 140 ELD-M’s, 143 ELD-X’s, and 140 RDF’s over top of some H4350. Then 6.5 PRC with 127 LRX’s and 130 CX’s over some H1000. Both rifles are Aero Solus actions with 24” barrels. Really hoping the ELD-X’s shoot great so I can run one load for medium sized game...

    Reloading 6.5PRC Success!!

Yeah I’ve thought about the Viht powders. Finding load data for the monos can be tough. I actually haven’t stepped off into the mandrels yet but I have thought about. I am at least using bushing does though.

    Reloading 6.5PRC Success!!

Yeah I don’t have high hopes for the Retumbo but curiosity is getting the better of me. I always start my loads at book length and play with it if I have to. I’ve always good luck either LRX in other cartridges by doing the same thing. They do tend to like a good jump. Can’t tell you the last...

    Reloading 6.5PRC Success!!

I’m still trying to find the magical load myself. I built mine on an Aero Solus action. I’m working with the Barnes 127 LRX and Hornady 130 CX. I’m not gonna say I’m getting bad results but just not quite that magical load. I’ve been using H1000. Im about to run some with Retumbo but rarely have...

    Little Crow Gunworks Thorofare Tripod

I’ll start by saying that I’m not an expert in the world of tripods. Before this tripod I was using a Bogpod clamp style. Most of my experience is hunting North Georgia mountains. A once a year trip to Colorado public land elk hunting. And this past year, getting into NRL Hunter matches. I just...

    Load Development ?'s (Noob thread)

They are correct. It’s hard to find “nodes” from a sample size of one. The ladder test for me is to find my working pressure and velocities I can expect. Run the ladder till you find either the velocity you want or pressure then stop. Then load 10 at the desired velocity or just below pressure...

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

I’ll definitely be picking up one of those if I buy a CVA. That’s pretty slick.

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

Idk if it’s worth messing with but I do have a Knight LK-93 I believe. Don’t quote me on that model but it’s the one that you make safe by threading the back of the bolt in till it won’t fire if that make sense. Should I even mess with it?

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

Yeah it would be great if I could purchase two but the wife is only giving the blessing for one. So I want to buy one good one. Was looking at the MR-X’s but thought I’d get some opinions. It’s a good possibility that I only run irons here as well. The shots in the north Georgia mountains are...

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

One last question. How do I know what rifles can shoot the BH209? I’m a little confused on that. The rest of the substitutes are good in any rifle right?

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

Ok. I typically don’t worry about taking it off my rifles when we are hunting in weather either. The regs in my state are pretty relaxed honestly. It’s just making sure I meet the regs of the west. Are there places where inline isn’t legal? Never even heard of a CO2 bullet remover but I’ll...

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

The spitfires are definitely on the top of my list to try out. I’m a huge Barnes fan. Are you doing anything specifically to reduce moisture while hunting with it?

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

Ok I’ll check that out. Thank you. Yeah as a reloader, I was blown away at $90 for not even a full pound of powder…. I did manage to find a container of it though.

    Muzzleloader Noobie Questions

Hey guys. Hoping to reach out for some insight as I purchase my first muzzleloader. A little background, I’m a Georgia resident that can take advantage of some early season deer hunts with the plans of going out west for elk, deer, etc. I go west for elk every year with a rifle but hoping for...

    Load Development ?'s (Noob thread)

There is definitely something to be said about that link to the “painless load development”. It’s a really good read. When I got into reloading, I thought I needed to do all the hocus pocus and rain dances but quickly realized I could cut out most of that and still shoot small groups. For me the...

    Load Development ?'s (Noob thread)

I just finished a 6.5 PRC build and started load development myself. In love with the cartridge so far. I’m working with the 127 LRX and 130 CX. Just finished the ladder test with H1000 and found some good potential loads. Gonna load up the nodes and get to the range soon to see how it goes.

    Load Development ?'s (Noob thread)

    1. Typically, you would load them in .3-.5 grain increments. Yes, shoot all the way up to max unless pressure sign in recognized. It's not uncommon to come across two different "nodes" within the same ladder tests. If you stop shooting after the first node, you could be missing out on a node at...
