Its a Savage 110 Storm. I've decided to hold on to it for my son. He's going to start hunting sooner than later I'm going to get the barrel threaded so I can throw a silencer on it. The AccuStock will be nice because I can make it fit him better. The silencer will help mitigate the recoil...
The Maven CRS.1 worked great! Glass quality was excellent at low light. No issues with lots of rain! I have my 30-06 zeroed at 250 yards, so if I were to take a 400 yard shot, the 5MOA hash mark sets me up perfectly. Eye relief is a little closer than my Crossfire 2, but I didn't feel like...
Right on. I’m going to work on getting really good at shooting my 30-06 out at further distances. My gun really likes terminal ascent ammo and the Remington premier long range. Furthest clear cut I’ve found in my back yard is 500 yards. Everything else is 100-300ish.
Opening day elk is...
Eh..I'm going to keep the rifle. Its a good backup. I prefer my 30-06, but if anything happens, my 308 is zeroed at 250 yards and is ready to go. If I have a friend that wants to try hunting, I can lend it out. My 6 year old son is very interested in hunting, and will eventually go with me...
Since I really prefer the CVA over my Savage 110, and I have quite a bit of 308 ammo, I might just trade the Savage for a CVA Cascade, and make the 308 my deer rifle/backup elk rifle.... I will make a decission after hunting season.
Yeah he had a limbsaver on it. I also have one on my 30-06. I was was surprised... I expected his 300WSM to hurt more than it did. Didn't bother me too much. I wouldn't want to put 20+ rounds through it, but it was doable. Made my 30-06 feel like it kicked softer lol. Limbsaver recoil pads...
Tikka rifles are awesome. I had fun shooting one last weekend. My buddy who owns the Tikka T3X Lite got to try my CVA Cascade for the first time. Both rifles are pretty slick. Here's our takeaway... The CVA probably weighs a half pound more, but mine has a longer barrel and long action over...
That's what I did. I didn't have trust in the Vortex Crossfire scope anymore. I might buy another Vortex scope later down the road, but it would only be a razor. I replaced it with the Maven CRS.1 after reading the reviews on it from Rokslide, and others online, it sounded like a good buy...
I decided to hold on to the .308 for now. I bought a Maven CRS.1 and CRS.2 after reading the Rokslide review. I will keep the one I like best. I'm leaning towards the CRS.1 just because of the simplicity of it. They show up tomorrow. I'm looking forward to trying it out on my 30-06. Sounds...
They are a pretty awesome hunting rifle. And the 15 day MOA guarantee is cool. Two things of caution if you look at one. The bolt was kind of sticky when I got it. I gave it a wipe down and applied a little gun oil at the store. Smooth as butter. My trigger adjustment screw was super...
I really like the Tikka T3x too. Honestly, and some may not agree with me, but the CVA Cascade is right up there with it in my opinion. They both have amazing triggers, and the action pretty much on par with the Tikka. I like the stock a little better on the CVA. Having the removable spacer...
Honestly, I think its more the rifle than the caliber. I feel more comfortable shooting the 30-06 CVA Cascade over my 308 Savage 110 Storm. Its balanced better, it feels lighter even through they both weigh 8lbs scoped up. According to my ballastics calculator, the 30-06 is flatter shooting...
I have a few places not far from my house that I can shoot out to 200 yards. I'm trying to locate a few more. 100 yards is easy to find, but 200 and beyond can get a little tricky. A friend sent me an onX location that is a clear cut bowl that I can probably get close to 400 yards. I have to...
Vortex was very surprised it happened. We had an ungodly amount of rain last elk season, but still, it shouldn't have happened. I've been looking at all the scopes y'all have recommended and been reading through reviews on this website.
Thanks everyone! I didn't grow up in a hunting family, so I'm kinda making this all up as I go. I really appreciate the advice. Sounds like investing in a more quality scope would be the better way to go. I try to get out and shoot as much as I can with both rifles.
Does anyone have any...
Vortex was very surprised when I had the problem. They gave me some good advice on how to baby it through the rest of the season. I'm ok with having two rifles, because sh#t can happen. Now that I'm setup, my plan is to upgrade a piece of gear every year. I've been looking at the Vortex...
My 308 is a Savage 110 Storm and my 30-06 is a CVA Cascade. If I were to purchase a 7mm Rem Mag, it will either be a Tikka T3x lite in stainless or another CVA Cascade.
