FWIW i just bought an anker 10,000 mAh for $17. weighs just under 9oz. tested it this week on iPhone 15 pro. first charge from 15% to full then ran my phone down to about 30% and only got up to 80% before the anker was drained.

fair point...i don't see any monumental upgrades which i suppose is why i said "nice" instead of "amazing" etc...
pretty minor overall--color, added chest width, several oz lighter.
not that it really matters but i like the color better & the reflective ripstop sounds interesting. CS just...
kuiu sent out an email about their new altai sleeping bags earlier this week. i like the "look" but didn't see anything about them being discussed or reviewed yet. from the website photos and description they appear to be a nice upgrade. anyone pulling the trigger?
and since, i'm sure a lot of...
haven't done one but was researching this recently and seems like the recommendation is to use a glue instead of sewing for the seams. i think there's a tyvek specific adhesive that they use.

story:
was talking with a buddy about our wives being "not thrilled" (to put it nicely) about multiple trips being planned for this fall. we both have kids and jokingly said we could bring the toddlers on a deer or elk hunt...
now, outside of 1,000...
haha same boat...except anxiously awaiting to see if i drew early archery or late rifle. i thought i had zero chance but decided to check the CC and saw the pending charge from earlier today
huge congrats to everyone who got lucky this year and wishing you even better luck come fall!
i can second the ghost whisperer. amazing warmth/weight ratio and i find it warmer than my patagonia down sweater which i believe has more down.
are you comparing to the kuiu pro down? that would be impressive and worth knowing given its 5oz of 850 FP down.
For SG items i have a large M5 jacket that pairs w/ a medium grumman. the large grumman felt too baggy.
personally, i'd have a rain jacket even with a tarp since you might need to be on the move while raining.
baofeng UV5R is inexpensive and works well. requires a decent level of understanding but what i like about it the most is that you can program channels with your computer and load them onto the radio. you need an amateur radio license to legally operate these.

this just sent me down a rabbit hole and landed on youtube DIY tarp builds. if you have a sewing machine (and some basic skills), you can make one of these for like $40 bucks.
risky click of the day...and, honestly, pretty close to what i was imagining after reading "fishnet".
from the (translated) website description:
"In terms of temperature control and comfort, combining natural fibers with synthetic fibers is an overwhelmingly good solution. The woolnet...
sounds like a sweet spot. not sure about the shooting regs but you're probably about 30 min from black's creek range in kuna so that's always an option.
