With a heavy scope, the Triper LP is fairly smooth. But if you’re looking at a decent angle upward or downward, you have to crank the vertical axis handle fairly tightly so the scope won’t tip.
I had both the Ares G2 65mm and the Cronus G2 86mm for a bit, trying to decide which I liked better. Weight isn't a huge issue for the scope, so I leaned toward the Cronus. Tried out a Kowa 773 for a bit, but the Cronus was actually about as sharp or maybe even a tad sharper in the very center...
Is the 833 new/in your possession already, or will be new at the end of the next season? If you already have it, what are your thoughts? How sturdy is it while standing if you stand at all?
I have the 20-70 - mine (scope plus eyepiece) is 1815 g (64.02 oz) without caps, and 1843 g (65.01 oz) with caps. Sounds like the WA would be less than half an oz more.
Elsewhere online someone weighed their 20-70 (scope plus eyepiece) without caps and came up with 63.74 oz, pretty close to my...
There’s a straight S2 in the classifieds right now. From the comments looks like either eyepiece is available ATM, or the scope body as a stand-alone. I bought one from the seller and like it.

It’s basically the globe or rolling ball effect. If lenses have field flatteners that include 0 pincushion distortion, the natural distortion of our eyes makes the image look convex and slightly rolling while panning. The severity would depend on the individual, as well as how much pincushion...
Cool, sounds good! Looking forward to seeing how the 30-60 compares to the others, as well as any Kowa 88s. If mainbeam pursuit2 ends up not being available, let me know and I can get you my S2 20-70x. I'm in eastern central Colorado Springs.
Yep, thanks for the clarification. Just because there are field flatteners doesn't mean there's an automatic rolling ball effect. For the effect to exist, and how severe it is, depend on both the individual viewer's eye structure and perception, as well as the specific amount of pincushion...
Yeah, different models with field flatteners often use different formulas. Also everyone's eyes and visual perception are different, so this effect can vary somewhat from person to person.
Here's an interesting article I found regarding the rolling ball effect/barrel distortion vs pincushion...
You might want to try them out before buying. I tried them at Scheels and the rolling ball effect/barrel distortion really bothered me. But I might be more susceptible to that since I notice it some on the Meostar S2 scope (20-70x) at low zooms, while many people only see a minor effect if at...

The clarity is amazing. I compared side-by-side with a Kowa 773. I was blown away - the Cronus actually had very slightly better clarity in the center. It seemed to cut through the mirage a bit better as well. Could be that there's some sample variation among Kowas regarding quality, but I...
