I had roughly 450 rounds through mine when it had the issue and a buddy just had it happen to him but his had over 2K rounds through his. He bottomed out the firing pin in the shroud and it's back to running well for him.
Just checking to see if anyone else has run into an issue with their Springfield Waypoint 2020 giving light strikes? It happened to me last year. At first I thought it was the seating depth of my primers as only some of my handloads were affected then it eventually moved it's way into factory...
I was changing to a different brand of brass, I had a load worked up that didn’t cross over to the newer brand. I’m guessing the case capacity is different resulting in different pressures. So, I figured I’d do a small ladder test to match the same speeds and then I should be close to the same...
Thank you. I’ve got spare set screws and a replacement firing pin and spring so would still want to be able to do some repairs if necessary. I thought originally my spring was the issue.
Factory 143 ELDX I'm seeing 2990 fps. My reloads I'm getting 2960 fps.
With the 143 Factory I was able to get a 5 shot group that was .62" that had one flier that opened up. I'm just over .25 without my flier. I'm just as tight (.38") with my reloads and like a little less pressure on the brass...
Be careful of any sort of wet weather (snow that warms up and melts as an example). The roads turn to gumbo and can cause some issues. If you have to wait until late into the evening for the roads to stiffen up to get out on some of them. It's not fun spending the day trying to dig a truck out...
Bump. I'm struggling as well. I'm limited by mag length for seating and struggling. Going to some Peterson brass instead of Hornady to see if I get different results. Also change from my CCI primers to Remington and see if I get different results.
I’ve been closer to Broadus but it was during peak rut and encountered plenty of other hunters. You’ll be going earlier so hopefully fewer people to compete against. It’s the age old adage of good glass and miles in the boots. Get away from the roads and you should find success.
Good glass and boots on the ground. Look for places where ya get away from the roads. Eastern MT can be tricky depending upon the weather. Some back roads are tricky when the get too much moisture. Safe travels and good luck.
