    New to squirrels

Ruger 22 Charger, SB Tactical brace, Vortex Venom red dot, DA Mask can, and a Flatline sling. Had to add a little QD adapter to the charger’s front swivel stud to use this sling.

Is there a great Gamo option?

I didn’t buy one yet, been out hunting and need to do a little more research before I do

New forum. Bring it on! Let's see some dead tree rats and /or fuzzy bunnies.

He, and I, and my eldest all really like the First Lite Traverse gaiters. They’re pretty good at sealing up your boot to keep dirt out of the top, and they add a few degrees of warmth on cool days without being too hot on warmer ones, in my opinion. I believe he was a size 7 shoe when he got...

Anyone have a tricked out .22 pistol they hunt squirrels with.

I am about to get a Mark IV, will put a dot and can on it. When I’m going on a “dedicated” squabbit hunt I carry a 10/22, but I want to have the pistol for targets of opportunity when I’m deer hunting and doing other things. We have a long squirrel season that runs most of the year, so having...

Is there a great Gamo option?

All the big box retailers around me have Gamo Whisper models (Wildcat and Swarm especially) on sale for Black Friday this year. I hunt squirrels with a 22 away from town, but for backyard pest control, I’m thinking about getting an air rifle. If you have experience, good or bad, with Gamo...

What is your typical shot distance for small game?

I try to stalk in as close as possible, probably 15-20 yards on average for squirrels with a 22.

    New to squirrels

My crew uses Ruger 10/22 some with open sights, some red dots. I’m wanting to get a Mark IV setup with a dot and can for “tree ninjas of opportunity” during other Fall seasons, too.

How much planning do you guys do for small game?

In recent years, I’ve mostly hunted squirrels with my youngest while my eldest was hunting Youth Deer season. Makes for some great family time and wonderful meals which both kids contributed game meat to!

SIG SAUER ZULU6 HDX 20x42mm vs 16x42mm buying decision

I bought the Sig Zulu6 16x HDX this Fall. I hunt and target shoot in a lot of very windy places, and hoped the image stabilization would help, especially with glassing game while still hunting and other quick, offhand use. I was not really prepared for just how great a help it would be! My...

    Trail Camera Disposal/Selling

The best use I’ve found is to turn one or more in for credit towards a new cam during the Fall Hunting Classic at my local Bass Pro. They run this trade-in every year, in August. I imagine since they also own Cabelas that you can probably do something similar as well. This strategy has helped...

How long do you ice age?

When remote, I put boned out meat in gallon ziplocs and then ice them in the cooler(s) for the trip home. When I hunt somewhere with access to a deep freeze, I freeze the meat off the bone in gallon ziplocs. Either way, once I transport it home, I thaw it in coolers for 4 or 5 days (or longer...

Coolers for travel. Wheels? No wheels?

Very curious to read an update from you, when you get a chance. Hopefully your hunt went great and you got to fill your coolers with meat!
