Sorry for the late reply! 180gr TTSX. Finally was able to sight in at 200yds.
1.6”- 4 shot group at 200 yds. I’m really happy with the setup, I just need to make it count when it really counts!
I bought the MKV Hunter in 300 win mag. It shot a best 3 shot group of .75" using factory Barnes TTSX ammo while breaking in the barrel. I really like the gun and would recommend it.
I ended up getting a Peak44 stock for it also which is 9 oz lighter than the stock one.
Total weight with a...
I wanted to update everyone on the Weatherby MKV Hunter in 300 win mag I ended up getting. It is shooting great. During the recommended Weatherby break-in, it shot around a 0.5" 3-shot group. This was with Barnes TTSX 180 gr factory ammo.
Thanks for the replies... They said the first hunt in October has the opportunity for the first bull of the season which could be an advantage, but more than likely little mule deer activity.
I'm also driving from the East Coast so I guess there could be some bad weather in November?
I'm...
Hello!
I was wondering if those of you with more experience elk hunting could provide some guidance if you have it. I'm scheduled and booked to go on a hunt with an outfitter on a private ranch in Central MT for elk during the 2023 RIFLE season. The dates available are October 21-24, Oct...
ddd122.... Love those stocks! Looks great, do you know the difference in weight compared to the hunter stock? What is the total weight now? How does it shoot now? Recoil etc...
Thanks!
Thanks to all for their suggestions. I ended up with a great deal on a Weatherby MKV Hunter. Ordered the $60 accu brake on Weatherbys site. Total weight 8lbs 10oz. With Leupold VX5, Leupold rail and rings.
10 oz heavier than my Weatherby SS 30-06.
Hopefully it shoots good. Planning on 180gr...
Hello all…
I currently have a 20 year old Weatherby MKV 30-06 in stainless/ synthetic stock. I really like the rifle and am going to give it to my son as his first big caliber rifle.
I’m looking for a $1000-2000 ($2500 if I can’t live w/out it) NEW rifle in 300 win mag.
Wants: Synthetic...
I have a pre-64 Model 94 Winchester (made in the 50’s) caliber- 32 Winchester Special I’d let go with a couple boxes of shells. It’s been used but in decent shape, shoots good and wouldn’t make you feel bad to carry it hunting. Previous owner installed sling swivels. $960 is what I’d like to get.
For sale is a pair of Kuiu Axis Hybrid pants. Very nice, water resistant and durable pants. These are great mid-late season pants.
They are 34 waist and have been professionally hemmed to 30” inseam. These run tight in the waist I feel.
These are in good condition, all zippers work. There are...
Hello all,
I signed up for a last minute Newfoundland Moose hunt and I’m very low on 30-06 ammo my gun likes.
I’m in need of 1-3 boxes of either of these cartridges pictured below…
Hornady Precision Hunter 30-06 178gr
Or
Federal/ Nosler Accubond 30-06 165gr
I’d consider other 180gr 30-06...
Hello sir. If you’re on Archerytalk their classifieds are great and you’d find one quick.
Or Facebook Hoyt Archery buy and sell, but I’d be more cautious on FB of scammers.

This guy has known all along! I had no idea they were this light either. The model is called "Synthetic Stainless." I don't think it's a 'lightweight' model.
So I ended up with a Weatherby Mark V Stainless Synthetic in 30.06 made in California in 2002. It appears to have never had a scope mounted on it or to have been shot.
I haven't shot it yet either. It weighs in at 6lb 6oz (according to my postal scale). I really like it. It is not coated...
