    Build Help - 7x57

If you stumble across a Ruger 275 Rigby, buy it immediately. Only a couple hundred were made and they have quickly become collectors items. I believe Zastava still makes a 7x57 also. The wood stock is a mess but a few hours with a file and you'll have a great rifle.

    New Howa Mini Action Floorplate

I pieced this 6mm Arc together. It took over a year to finally get everything bought but I'm excited to finally have it finished. The aftermarket floorplate/trigger guard is an absolute must.

Idaho Shed Hunting- Permit Required Bill

This whole thing is just another option for social media influencers to shed "hunt" without the proper license. It should play out well.

Dream hunts a 20 year old should build points for?

That's completely up to you, where you live, and what the rules are. You could write a book about all the intricacies of applying for hunts. Start listening to Randy Newburg's podcast on applying in every state and formulate a plan that works for you and your budget.

Dream hunts a 20 year old should build points for?

I would start by applying for the once-in-a-lifetime hunts in every western state you can afford. The odds are extremely low but you will not draw 100% of the tags you don't apply for.

    Cape Buffalo Packing Some Lead

Here's a little cartridge comparison. 470 NItro, 375 H&H (225 grain bullet), and a 5.56. The 375 is the legal minimum for buffalo in a lot of countries. African game animals are physiologically different than American game animals. The hearts are situated directly under the front leg, not...

    Cape Buffalo Packing Some Lead

Using a double rifle is a lot quicker on a follow up shot but slower when you need to fire 3 rounds. If you need to shoot 4 rounds the double is faster than a bolt rifle. With a double, you don't have to worry about a short stroke. The PH messed up by not being fully ready for his 3rd and 4th...

Once again a “Influencer” is caught poaching on several hunts (Alpinecarnivore)

I would like it if the folks who continuously break the law, lose their hunting privileges for enough time that they also lose preference/bonus points. Or as citizens, we ask the game commission to remove preference/bonus points for repeat offenders.

Private Pilot License advice and info

I worked with several Vets who used their GI bill to pay for their flight school through a local university. All of them joined a local club to build hours. One of them joined the civil air patrol to get his cost per hour down but he had to pay out of pocket for his instructor rating, $25k...

    Alaskan Cruise

Wife and I went on a Princess cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon nearly 20 years ago. We had a great time and I would definitely do it again. Princess caters to older people so the boat was very quiet. We went on a 7 round trip from Seattle.

    106 TAP for hunting?

I'm glad I got 4 boxes while they were available. They shoot ok in my 6mm arc bolt gun with 29g CFE223. I'll use them to fireform brass and kill varmints.

    Spotting scope dilemma

I have the 15-45x60 SX-4 and a 13-39x50 Vortex Razor. Above 30x the Leupold was rough on my eyes. I don't think the Razor and the SX-4 are in the same league.
