I currently hunt with a 7mm PRC, which has taken the place of my Sako 85 30-06 as my "do-it-all" rifle. I'm now looking at adding a dedicated 6.5mm deer rifle, and I'm having trouble deciding between the 6.5 CM vs the 6.5 PRC. Any thoughts on which one would be better suited in this scenario?
I have it dialed up in my online cart as we speak. Are you using the Tricer LP head as well? That’s my next dilemma. The Revic comes with the integrated ball head and the total weight is around 2.3lbs. From what I can gather, that’s a few ounces heavier than the tricer BC w/ the LP head. I need...
I'm deciding between the Tricer BC and the Revic Backpacker as well. I am still hoping someone will chime in who has experience with both of these specific tripods.. I will say, I've used the Revic Ball head, and it's very nice. Quick and easy to use and locks up tight (for a ball head).
Update: Decided to go with the ZCO420. It definitely lives up to the hype. Probably overkill for me, but I like overkill. Fits on this long action, but barely… thanks for the help, everyone.
Update to this conversation… I did end up going with the ZCO420, and it fits perfectly with these American Precision Arms Gen 2 Tru-Loc Scope Rings. I had to mount it as far back as it would go, but it turned out to be perfect on this long action. Hope this helps someone else in the future. Very...
34’s are the sweet spot for 4Runners. 33’s just don’t seem like that much of a jump from stock, and 35’s are too heavy in my opinion to make it worth it. Some lighter weight 34’s with 4.56 gears feels like you’re driving a stock 4Runner (power-wise) with a significant increase in axle clearance.
I Agree with both of those points. The seats in my 4Runner are horrendous, and my paint is 100% pinstripe now. I don’t even try to avoid brush or branches anymore.
Yeah, this is the first time I’ve ever noticed it, but this is also the first time I’ve used a bubble level on my scope. I’m sure I just hold my other rifles in a position that “looks” level in the scope.. I’ve never really shot long range before so it hasn’t been an issue.
I’ve mounted my scope twice now, the same way I always have. Level the stock/action, then match that with a barrel level. Mount the scope with a level on top of the turret. Once it was all mounted, I even used the flashlight technique through the front of the scope onto a whiteboard behind and...
Agreed on the Toyota MPG. Granted, I didn’t help my mpg adding steel bumpers, aluminum skids, winch, regearing, etc.. the MPG was around 17 when it was stock. 12-13 now that I’ve added all the crap. Yeah, it seems like there isn’t a perfect solution. The 4Runner is extremely capable off-road and...
I joined my local 4x4 club years ago, so this 4Runner was built for off-roading in an attempt to keep up with my Jeep buddies on 37’s. IMO, 34’s are the sweet spot on a 5th Gen with 4.56 gears. We just had a baby, so we don’t off-road as much these days, and I’m leaning into hunting a lot more...
I’m looking at selling my 4Runner (gets roughly 12mpg) and buying a new truck to use daily, but also as a hunting rig. I’m a Ford guy, but open to other brands. I know I want a 6’ bed, 4x4.. but do I go 1/2 ton? 3/4 ton? Diesel/gas? I apply in every western state, so this truck will rack up a...
Does anyone have a lead on where to get some Hornady 7PRC CX 160gr Outfitter ammo? I’m able to find their Precision Hunter ELD-X’s but cannot find the CX’s. I’m in California, so I need those copper bullets. My new rifle is a paperweight in the meantime. Please let me know if you know where to...
Does anyone have experience using BOTH Proof barrels and Gunwerks proprietary barrels? I know Gunwerks used to use Proof barrels, but now that they’re manufacturing their own, how do they compare?
