I went with Tilley - they're at my dermatologist's office, plus it's one of the few that could find to fit my big melon head (size 8), and feel like they look halfway decent. Remind me of the Shelta's to be honest.
Not too shabby for a random, lol. I talked to a Speer rep, said he shot them in his 6.5 CM and they were really accurate. Was trying to see if they tested any with powders other than the three listed and of course he said no. Finally ran across some H1000 so I can at least get something...
Out of curiosity has anyone reloaded with the Speer Impacts much? Had a Savage 110 Hunter w 24" bbl in 6.5x284 Norma magically appear in the safe and thought I would work up a decent hunting round for it. Going to use the 140's and was wondering if they like to be close to the lands or prefer...
This isn't going to be any help, but just letting you know someone else feels your pain - sort of. I have a 2001-ish 300wsm A-bolt that throws factory ammo (Federal Fusion 165gr) that way diagonally. If I let the barrel cool and start over, the bullet holes nearly each other. First shot dead...
Thanks for posting this. I'm in the same boat. Currently in a 2001 Ram 2500 h/o with 350k with nothing ever really done to it, and still has the original 6sp clutch. Leaking oil out the rear main pretty bad, along with drips from other places. Looked at new ones, can't bring myself to drop...
Seen it was an older post, but wasn't sure. I've been looking for one myself as I have a Browning A-Bolt stalker that I can't get to shoot for nothing except on the first shot. After that, it will start walking.
Don't know if you're still looking -
Not used him personally just yet, but had a friend who shoot competitively recommended this guy to me. You can call him and see what you think. He's in Church Hill, TN on Stanley Valley Rd.

EMS for 30 years here. 24 with same company so I completely understand being stuck due to pension. I think you're on the right track by waiting 3 years. If you fly the UH-60's - what's the chances of being paid to fly helicopters in the private sector? Medevac, Forest Service, etc.... Another...
An alternate to the backpacking it out - last time I went out west we use a roll up hard sled - We call it a "sked" in my work, but I think they have some marketed for game transport. Ended up putting an entire quartered/deboned mix of a cow elk in game bags on it and dragging it out. The...
