Check if your muzzle thread has a relief cut at the end of the thread. If not, check if the suppressor has a relief cut at the start of the threads, so that the threads may go in all the way. The muzzle thread can't be cut all the way to the shoulder due to tool geometry, so there will be...
Manson is top notch. Their reamers always cut nice and smooth and are not prone to vibration, even when razor sharp new.
Lead times are sometimes a bit long, but the reamers are really good.
Haven't used JGS myself so I can't comment on their performance, but a lot of great smiths use their...
I use 450 on hot loads to avoid pierced primers. My go to load with the 75gr Hornady HPBT works great with the 450s, but standard primers can't handle the pressure and most are really on the edge of puncturing especially from a hot barrel.
Federal AR gold medal primers seem pretty pressure...
Recently finished my 6BR build.
Tikka action, trued up the threads, lugs and cut off the chamfer for a larger barrel shoulder contact. Bolt has the firing pin bushed, nose fully supported with a firing pin diameter of 1.55mm, hole diameter 1.60mm. Had some primer cratering before bushing the...
The mag shouldn't be loaded by pressing rounds down in it. Slide them in from the front like your regular single stack mags. The ctr mag only feeds from the middle like a single stack, so it isn't supposed to be loaded like an AR mag for example. It just stores the rounds in two rows inside...
I'm looking to buy a dedicated shooting tripod, but living in Finland all the good stuff (read RRS) is not available here. Some german shops have one or two models in stock, but they are ridicilously priced at 2.5k € or so.
I like the idea of inverted leg system, but I'm a little concerned if...
I don't do much stock work, but from my limited experience Tru Oil is a very good finish of high quality wood when done properly in very thin layers over a long period of time.
I had a F3 Blaser shotgun with gorgeous wood on it, and I refinished it with a Tru oil treatment. I went for a shiny...
They work well and are a lot stiffer than the regular synthetic stock. Fits very nicely and doesn't require bedding necessarily.
I have a green laminated one still sitting around at home. The stock came off a Tikka Moosehunter model, and I've used it on a 9,3x62 Lite ss and a 17hmr T1x...
Same here. The fact is that some of the chinese scopes are pretty good, but I don't personally want to support their industry when not necessary, hence I went with the made in Japan series for my own scopes.
Unfortunately it is basically impossible to avoid made in China stuff completely. Even...
So far no issues with either of my own scopes, nor with any of those that my shooting buddies have.
The Theos has seen some real use, a lot rounds and dialing, hauled around and bumped on stuff and it has retained zero. Currently sits on a 6,5 Creedmoor on a Spuhr mount. I haven't thrown it off...
I've shot both the 140gr FMJBT and 142 HPBT. Of the two the 142 seems to be a bit better. They aren't loaded very hot, but they have shot consistently in several different guns, always sub moa at 100 meters in I remember right. The 142 shoots better over longer distances, so if I were to use the...
The 4-16x42 baby ATACR is definitely among the best hard core hunting scopes in my opinion. It isn't overly heavy or bulky, the optical quality is good, turrets are excellent and it has a solid durability reputation. Locking elevation turret is great.
The rotating eyepiece is not perfect for...
Many american gunsmiths seem to over mystify muzzle threading for some reason.
That diameter is way more than what is necessary for making a solid shoulder for a 1/2x28, and with a 6,5 bore the wall thickness is accectable that way aswell. No reason why it couldn't be done.
The 1/2x28 is not...
I had the exact same issue on my 6,5 Creedmoor, and it nearly drove me crazy.
Fixed it by grinding the trigger guard holes oval to make the mag fit even tighter. It fits nice and snug now, but the mag won't fall out on its own for a quick mag change if that matters to you. Not nice for PRS and...
I've only shot black grouse with the 75gr BTHP from a 223, and it is great for that. It clearly opens up some, as it does pretty much damage on center mass shots, ripping the backside open. I prefer that as I hunt without a dog, so tracking game after being shot down is not the optimal scenario...
Finally got around to shooting some 10 round groups. I made batches of 10, others with the cases annealed using an induction heater and other 10 without annealing to see if there is any clear improvement in group size by annealing. Turns out for me it is not worth the extra effort.
Annealed...
The 3HGR slings are excellent in every way imo. Nice to carry, durable and reasonably lightweight. The takedown model is my personal favourite of their lineup. The basic idea is so simple, and often helpful as you can tighten the sling underneath your gun when the sling is not in use. Well worth...
Thanks :)
It shoots well, early stages of load developement at this point shows some promise with 68gr and 75gr Hornady BTHPs. 3 shot groups around 0.35moa, 5 shot around 0.5moa. I have to bed the UPR stock before using it more though, as there were some odd horizontal flyers shooting with it...
