I got my first area 419 scope mount… within a month I bought two more! I tend to buy once cry once when it come to rifles/scopes and I’ve used all the “best” stuff and I don’t have anything bad to say about other rings but these are the best in my opinion. These will provide more grip on the...
I’m a plumber…
Yes you will probably have to replace the section going through the concrete. You will need to wrap the pipe in what we call 10 mil tape where it will be in contact. We use a product called “water plug” or “thorite” which is a synthetic non-shrinking concrete like compound. If you...
I had a 5-27 when they first came out… wasn’t satisfied with them so I sold them but I got a chance to look over a 4-20 a buddy of mine has and it appeared to be much better optically. Enjoy!
Again, I see a much smaller sample size of S&B. I own a couple personally and have had no issues. They are expensive scopes and much less popular compare to NF, Leupold, Vortex.
If by internals you mean the turrets, yes, but I don’t believe they are changing out the erector system, spring etc...
Too bad, they are nice scopes. You should get one 😂. I’m sorry if I’ve said something that sticks in your craw… I was just sharing my opinion based on what I’ve seen as well as a potential source of useful information.
I don’t worship Ilya, but he is an expert in the field. Obviously you are...
Both great scopes made in the same factory in Japan. Sounds like the ATACR is a better fit for your needs. I have seen both scopes in the same conditions but wasn’t purposely going back and forth to compare them. I own the S3 you have. I’d say glass is similar enough that you won’t “miss” the...
I understand where you’re coming from but If this were true any optic you find to fail would bankrupt a manufacturer if they offered any sort of warranty. You mention NF as a standout in reliability….
I’ve seen many NF products fail over the years… even on the ATACR which I personally consider...
Not to make your decision hard again but I have seen a lot of Trijicon tenmile and they do seem to be very reliable. I’d run one workout hesitation but I don’t own any personally.
Those haven’t been as popular as many others. I believe the V4 is Japanese and the V6 is German but it could be just where the glass is sourced from. I have seen a few of each and haven’t personally witnessed a failure. I would buy one at 50% off retail personally. I would also go V6 for my...
He gives a clear explanation of why he doesn’t do this type of testing… with a small sample size the results would be misleading in both directions. You would need access to the warranty data. Unfortunately it generally comes down to marketing until a product has been out long enough to develop...
Certain brands around here seem to get labeled as “bullet proof” and others are branded unreliable. I think this is due in part to the scope reviews here which in and of themselves are great (I enjoy reading them) but to assume they are statistically representative of anything is low resolution...
I mostly hunt blacktails in the nw cascades and occasionally have longer shot opportunities. Because of this I packed a bipod on my rifle for many years but never was able to use it. A couple years ago I quit packing the bipod… I’ve shot 4 bucks off my trekking poles. The terrain and brush just...
Thanks! The pre-64 is a fast twist 25-06 for the 133+gr bullets. I did the stippling myself, on the pre-64 I used nails and on the TRG I used a dremmel.
I have so many projects with wood stocks… I’m picking back up on a mauser project with a classic style stock.
I have another target rifle...
Amazing work. You are a REAL craftsman!
I have enjoyed the heck out of this thread! Keep it up!
I started getting into carving wood stocks a couple years ago and have completed a couple projects recently… a pre64 model 70 with a ‘cross the course’ style stock. And a Sako TRG22 project...
If you get a chance to look at Sig’s image stabilizing bino’s you’ll be surprised. My buddy has the 10x and 16x. He leaves his swaros at home these days. The image stabilizing is a game changer. I’m running the Zeiss LRF binos but if I spot something and want to get a better look I grab his 16x...
I have been running a modified KRG bravo on my match rifle. I changed the grip with MarineTex to my liking, added a barricade stop, and added a little weight near the butt pad to balance out the suppressor. Total weight is 16 pounds ready to run. I also recommend bedding the KRG.
I hunt...
