For me it is the time spent sitting in the woods. Everything is so quiet and peaceful. The sound of leaves blowing in the trees. Watching squirrels and other wildlife run about. It's kind of like a form of meditation. Gives me time to just get away from the hustle and bustle of life, slow down...
Good choice. I have been shooting factory 143 eldx with 100% success on whitetail. I don't reload at the moment, so they are a little expensive, but worth it to me.
Deer hunting is the only kind of hunting I do so all the rifles I own are light recoiling. So no need for a brake. Too cheap to buy a suppressor. Although it would probably be pretty fun to play around with.
Had ingrown toenails as a teen and this is what my doctor told me. Cut them straight and let them grow out a little long. Also make sure your shoes are fitting properly. I cut several out myself. Hurts like hell, but the relief afterwards was worth it.
The numbers I am hearing from you guys seem to be on par with what I was thinking for the average hunter.
Good points about people not shooting their rifles enough during the off season. Also practicing from various positions helps out a bunch. Shooting has been a hobby of mine since a kid...
Got into a discussion with coworkers about deer that they either missed, or they shot and were unable to recover. I understand if you hunt you are going to eventually miss/lose a few, but the numbers just seem high to me during our conversation. Some guys miss/lose more deer in a hunting season...
I have already answered this question for my daughter who is only two at the moment, but when the time comes it will be 223. Of course she will get plenty of practice with 22LR first before moving up. I remember shooting my very first centerfire rifle as a child, it was a 243, which I continued...
Not sure if I can add much to the conversation that someone else hasn't already said. I guess you can tell from the comments above that diet is the absolute most important thing followed by exercise. Also consistency in whatever kind of diet and exercise you choose to do.
Just because you are...
Not sure what you are planning on doing with it, but in just about every case I would buy a tikka that fit the bill and put the rest towards a good optic.
Well I really appreciate all the "random guys" on the internet for sharing their experiences. It really does help to make an informed decision. I understand that not everyone agrees on everything, but getting to hear both sides of a story based on actual experiences sure does help people draw...
If it was 2.5x10 or 12 I would not hesitate. Like I mentioned earlier Trijicon has several scopes that are really close to what I want, but for every one they offer I have to make a compromise of some kind. Would not mind a higher magnification if it was a ffp scope with a useable reticle at low...
I have looked over all of Trijicons offerings many time. They have several that are very close to what I'm looking for, but none exactly like what I'm looking for. If only I could piece a few of their offerings together.
I like the Trijicon Credo 2.5-10x56 SFP w/ Green MRAD Ranging for the...
I imagine y'all are using the reticle? That is all well and good. I've practiced doing the same on my range optic (Arken with mil Christmas tree), but I still prefer dialing and why not have the option to do both? Why buy a scope with crappy turrets that will not reliably track and return to...
As stated in my original post it is a ruger american predator in 6.5 creedmoor. I am shooting hornady 143gr eld-x ammo. Rifle is sighted in @ 100 yards. Current scope is a leupold vx-freedom 3-9x with a simple duplex reticle.
Thanks Axlrod,
I've read through a couple of the evaluations today along with other threads on the forum. From everything I've have gathered so far it seems to be the general consensus among many on the forum that if you want a dependable dialing scope that returns to zero and holds zero that I...
Currently in search of a hunting optic. I have been around the world and back in my search. I have googled many times over the past week. I have read many reviews and seen many opinions on countless forums. Just when I think I have my mind made up I read something that changes my mind. This...
