Check craigslist and ebay. It is crazy how much you can save on a 3+ year old bow. Throw some new strings on it and you will be good to go. You will not see any difference in performance on a bow a few years old vs a 2025 bow.
Always out past the riser. In the heat of the moment it is possible to have a finger sticking up that could catch the broadhead. Dumb way to loose a finger. It is not a common injury but it does happen. I think I have seen a few pictures here. You can find stories and pics of nasty finger...
If your shooting a compound it is very unlikely you will see any benefit to having longer arrows. Just cut as short as is safe and shoot. If you really like playing with your set up go for it but there are many other places you can tinker and get better results.
Like everything else in our society weddings have become totally insane. People spend crazy amounts of money on what amounts to a very stressful day so a bride can play princess for the day. So many other better ways to spend money. But in the end its your money (or debt) spend it however you...
People like a new shiny new penny every year. Even though that new penny does the same thing as an old penny. For some unknown reason there is a drive in most humans that makes us want to buy the latest, greatest and most expensive toy. Combine that with marketing and advertising geniuses and...
The hunting sphere is a great case study on how you can take one of the most basic human behaviors, hunting animals. A behavior that has been going on since the first human. Then inject a ton of money over a relative short time period (compared to how long humans have been hunting) and look at...
I just don't see the improvements you do. 18 and 16 fps is a decent improvement but not worth the cost of a new bow to me. Everything else is more subjective, how it feels, how smooth it is does not directly translate into accuracy or killing more animals. The marketing videos, influencers...
It also really depends on the type of hunting you do. If you use a blind or tree stand and have a lot of time to range objects before an animal comes in, not too big of an advantage If you do more spot and stalk in wide open areas they are a huge advantage.
Like everything they have their advantages and disadvantages. They do not range quite as good as a stand alone range finder. The huge advantage is being able to range at full draw. A big reason they are not more popular is Garmin does not pay influencers to use them.
At what point does the price and practicality balance out for the “bang for your buck” so to speak?
It depends on what you mean by bang for your buck. None of us will shoot a new bow better than a 10 year old bow. If you want to go from 60 to 70 lbs you will notice a difference in...
Get a second opinion. It could be something very serious. If a doc can't figure it out keep going to new docs until you find one willing to figure it out and get a diagnoses. Do it for your family
I totally agree. I will butcher anything myself up to an elk. Anything bigger than that and it is too big for most people to do. Getting some of those specialty cuts definitely requires skill beyond what most home butchers are capable of.
I don't upgrade bows very often. By the time I do upgrade the old bow has lost so much value it isn't worth it to me to sell it. Especially if I have to pay shipping. I have always found someone interested in archery and gave away my old bow.
