Im running mont bell. Both the jacket and pants. They work very well and are pretty easy to layer as they aren't really thick and will compress some under rain gear and such. Amazing warmth for glassing. I run them in my pack while hunting cats in the winter. Can throw them on after a hard run...
Have one of those too but it sounds cooler to say I have a .280Ackley than a 7mag LOL Plus the reloading time is far less and that is huge for as much as I shoot. Both very good guns thats for sure!
One thing is if you shoot Ackleys make sure the bullet fits the gun as there are different specs of Ackley. This is the case with my Ackley. Its not built for Nosler ammo. But I thing the factory guns are. http://faq.nosler.com/index.php?action=artikel&cat=31&id=39&artlang=en
I run a .280AI for the last few years and shoot 140gr Noslers out of her and she shoots them very very well. And ive killed amny elk and moose with this combo and shoot lots out to 600yrds with great accuracy. Nosler is your only choice in factory ammo and if going factory I probably wouldn't...
The only thing I pack with me on my mountain hunts is my Custom Don Stevenson caper. Never liked the feel of any havalons and can use this knive for all my needs. Lets me work in on horn bases and inside of hooves without broken blades.
Its the top one in the pic. These pictured are the only...
Here is what I would go with. A yearling ram coming out of his first winter and sporting his fist growth ring wont have as much horn as many state. Some have year 1 where I have year 2 and i've yet to see that years lambs going into winter with that much horn. They will have a couple inches. As...
Just wondering if anyone on here has hunt Bou in Quebec. Looking at booking a hunt of some sort for 2015 or 2016 and this was one of our ideas. Lets here you stories of hunt info. Thanks Guys.
I run a Monte Bell jacket in my pack as well as a pair of matching pants on the early hunts. I believe they are the Thremawrap series. Works very well. I wear them full time on Late season Alberta big game hunts and I really like it when chasing cats at -25 - -30C.
20 yrs of guiding to a few hundred animals in NE BC, the Yukon and Alberta and they killed just as much as the Kuiu and Sitka I wear now. LOL
Rocking the jeans on a great day 55" moose and a 165" stone ram killed 2hrs apart on a late season October BC hunt.
I hunted goats in BC in 2010. It was a do it your self hunt and was in an area with good goat numbers. We saw alot of goats but all the billies we saw were young and 8" or smaller. We saw a Nanny early that was easy to tell was very mature and lookied to have lots of age rings. She was without a...
Im a die hard sheep hunter and guide and my goals are to be carrying big rams off of the mountains for myself and my clients. Now I never come off a hill without a set of ram horns on my back!!
You dont see many stone rams at least in any areas I have hunted that will produce the type of length you show here in their first year from the early summer when they are born until the first winter when they get the first ring. Most will have not much more than a 2 -3inches tops.
