    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Received the Scarpa ribelle hd earlier this week. They fit my feet better than the Zamberlins. Pretty comfortable out of the box, need to upgrade the insole. Planning on breaking these in and using for the upcoming hunt.

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Tried both sizes in the zamberlins mountain trek gtx. Tried different lacing techniques, can't get them to fit comfortably. Too much heel movement. Just ordered a set of scarpa ribelle hd's. Hopefully they fit my foot better.

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Received the Zamberlins today. Went with a 12 which is typically what I wear. Used a midweight darn tough sock. Up and down the stairs for several minutes, noticed a good bit of heel slip. Put on a heavyweight sock and that helped some. Will go down 1/2 size and see if that resolves the issue...

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Just ordered a pair of Zamberlin mtn trek GTX rr boots. More of a true mountaineering boot and quite a bit stiffer than my Crispis. I should have them next week. If they don't fit my foot correctly I plan on trying A Scarpa brand boot.

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Will the Crispi Nevada be sufficient for this hunt as far as stiffness? They fit well and are comfortable. I've got wide, flat feet. I could buy a stiffer boot if needed? Are stiff mountaineering boots ok for milder terrain? Do they cause any issues on milder terrain? I'd like an all around non...

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Currently wearing Crispi Nevada 200g insulated boots as my all around boots. Average Alaska temps show to be between 30-55 degrees for mid September. Looking for a lite weight non insulated boot. Leaning towards the crispi lapponia. I'm thinking my feet will get hot in mild temps with lots of...

Talk me out of or into this rifle

Definitely agree on the spotter. Make sure outfitter has good glass or bring yours. Yes, carry your own range finder and spare battery. I know a guy who's range finder went for a swim, ruined his whole hunt.

Talk me out of or into this rifle

You have put together a really nice rifle. I wouldn't go backwards in quality to save a few lbs. You can trade suppressor for a brake, change scope/rings to save a good bit of weight. Do you really need to carry a spotter with an outfitter? Leave the rrs tripod at home. Most likely you will...

    6.5 PRC bullet selection

They are almost non existent. They show up when the factory does a production run, then all gone again. If you find them buy enough to wear out a barrel. They will be easy to offload if you don't like them for some reason.

    Hunting/PRS chassis or stock options

A prs rig and hunting rig are two totally different animals. Weight is your friend in a prs rifle, also caliber. Prs is dominated by small 6mm cartridges that aren't suited for long range hunting. You could use the same chassis/stock, action and optic. I would look at chambering 2 barrels. A...

    6.5 PRC bullets for goats

I've whacked over 20 animals with the 165 bergers. Big bull elk, large african game, exotics, wt deer and big boar hogs. It's my preferred bullet. It's been lethal and shoots very good for me.
