Being from the south east and starting to hunt more and more in the west. I went in for a physical and a stress test. Knocking on 40 with some family history I figured it wasn’t a bad thing to get checked for something I may have been dealing with and not know about. Also it had me a lot less...
White sauce is usually served with bbq chicken. Not as good as some people try to make it sound but it’s good to mix it up sometimes.
Our season ends feb 10. It used to be Jan 31 but they moved it back as some places wouldn’t rut until nearly feb. What’s funny is that some places rut mid...
I don’t kill just to kill. If I do hunt for the trophy I have somewhere for the meat to go. If they need the animals for research and it’s something that needs to be done I don’t see a problem with it.
Backpacking or camping near the truck? Your price range is going to limit your selection of lightweight insulated pads, but there should still be some good options out there.
If it’s local or within a couple hours drive I will just take the one. Anything over 4 hours away is getting the backup brought with me. It would suck to drive 24 hours to Colorado to have minor issue on your gun prevent you from hunting or take time to go get repaired during a five day hunt.
The kimbers can need some tweaking to make accurate. Small things from what I have read. And it seems the lightest. Christensen is about .5-1 pound heavier but with a 26” barrel. All that I read says they are shooters out of the box. Browning is cheaper by around 700 bucks. But they are the...
I was thinking about something similar. Purchased a lighter profile and shorter barreled rifle and after optics it came out to over 8 anyways. Which isn’t bad. But I sacrificed some performance to get there. Looking at going with a lighter setup with a 26” barrel to increase my speeds some.
I have been looking at The kimber, browning, and Christensen. Out of those the browning is the only 8. My savage was a 9 and didn’t like the 168s so I thought it was a twist thing and dropped down to 150s. It was definitely better but not good. So I’m on the fence with is the 8 better or not. I...
Had a 280 ai savage but couldn’t get it to shoot right. Guess it was a lemon as I tried numerous things to make it work. Looking at getting another one. I’m hoping to replace it soon with a better rifle. Thanks for the info guys.
I see a lot of 1:9 factory guns. I would think a 1:9 would shoot most of your common factory loads. If you are looking to be on the heavier end of that go with the 1:8 or 8.5.
