Smiled when I read your post. Not that I ever traded something and bought it again later!! I've spent so much time at this gun shop, I've asked if they would build and rent me an aparrtment upstairs. The time and $$ I spend on diesel traveling back and forth (1 hour EACH way) would easily...
BCD,
Many, MANY opinions on barrel cleaning. Here's my humble opinion.
After each range session - 15 to 30 rounds - I run a "LIGHTLY oiled" Bore Snake thru my barrel - twice. Put it in the safe. Repeat this after each range session. In my experience - rifle accuracy isn't negatively affected...
In these days of new and improved wonder cartridges and their ever-promising ballistics and performances, I’d like to respectfully offer a few thoughts.
Debating ballistics…our favorite “new” cartridges…there’s no doubt we have better products and choices today. ON PAPER…newer shows better...
Greetings everyone. Please know that I offer the following respectfully and only with good intentions.
Wife and I are invited to 2 Thanksgiving dinners which we will attend. I've been asked to offer grace at both dinners. I composed and offer you the following prayer.
Dear Lord,
On this...
Gentlemen all...thanks for your replies. Reassuring.
The Partitions are old(er) bullets - yet time and time again yield splendid results in the field. Meeting or exceeding expectations. Yeah, we can talk about internal and external ballistics - BC's and SD's - but in the end - for we hunters -...
Greetings.
Some quick background.....
After a substantial amount of recent reload testing at the range - both .270 Win and 30-06 - no disrespect to anyone here - I no longer have faith in monos. Again and again accuracy was mediocre at best - averaging 1.5" to 2" @ 100.
Granted - it may have...
Greetings Mr. Logan.
Youll find good folks here with sound advice.
Here's my humble "opinion."
Everyone has different priorities in choosing a rifle and cartridge. IMHO, you've chosen wisely on both. Just me now, if my rifle won't shoot under MOA @ 100 with carefully prepared hand loads - I...
AMEN and well said on the 3x9 Credo. As for the turret not locking - that's what the cap is for. :) No dialing. Under 300 yards BG scope - light - wide FOV at 3x & 4X - GREAT illum reticle for hunting - 30-06 w/ 200 gr Partitions. KISS. Thank you Trijicon.
A bit of a late update with my apologies.
First....all the replies are much appreciated. THANKS!!!
OK................accuracy wise.......the light 30 cal bullets for Wiley are not working out so well. My reloading work might be the culprit, but I don't think so. Asking a lot of a cartridge to...
Thank you Maverick. Intend to try a 130 gr or 135. See what happens at the target and run the ballistics thru JBM. If it doesn't work out...a little time and a few $ lost. 150 gr not a bad fall back position either for under 400 / 500 yards. Again...thanks.
Just my humble opinion..........
Indeed blessed - I've already killed my share of BG.
Maybe a bit unrealistically at times - I "personally" have always made DRT a very high priority in my choice of a bullet. DRT guaranteed? Of course not. Yes - today's mono BG bullets are indeed better. And...
HHTR.....yes, the other cartridges would be better Coyote choices. Just not my choice for owning 1 "all around" rifle.
Jack.....you're right. Good sense says stay with a tried and true 150 gr c&c with a good BC. I just thought a lighter Varmint bullet might / maybe ??? do a bit better -...
Greetings. Yes, I am aware that the 1 cartridge for everything has been discussed too many times. That said, helmet on, here goes...
Now 78 y/o with a lot of good hunting behind me. All my rifles but 2 are gone. My old Winchester 22 stays. I thought long and hard on which "do everything" rifle...
Hey...
Anyone have any hands-on experience with this particular "new" rifle? Accuracy? Functioning? Handling?
Someone - maybe here? - posted his problems with his 2020 PRC and unsatisfactory SA customer service. Others had the same issues and spoke of poor cs. A few people responded with how...
Magtech,
If I want to learn what I "need to do" I'll ask my wife. As I'm still learning, the good folks here have responded with genuiely helpful and respectful suggestions to my questions all over this site. I'm appreciative and have said so. Try not being the exception.
Fudd'ly Yours,
D Lee
