t3x roughtech vs light options

Hi everyone i am new here. looking to get a nice gun primarily for whitetail hunting. looking at a t3x in 6.5 Creedmoor. my question is, are there any lites made with a stainless barrel that is 20” long? I found a roughtech ember Model # JRTXRBT382 that looks to 20” with stainless barrel. i plan to use a supressor on it eventually so i like that it is already threaded. also like the fluted barrel and bolt vs the lite. I am noticing looking online there seems to be many combinations but only sold at certain stores. if someone could give some insight on any other t3x stainless 6.5 creedmoor options that have a 20” barrel that would be great. thanks

Here is my take on it. The profile of the standard Tikka sporter barrel is light enough that it doesn't need fluting. The fluting on the bolt is cosmetic. I have fluted and unfluted bolts and I have found absolutely no functional difference in them after thousands of rounds shot in various conditions. There are people on the forum who have way more rounds in way more conditions/positions than me and hopefully they will chime in as well, but I would spend less $ and get the non-fluted.

The CTR comes with a 20" barrel in SS and the barrel is already threaded. However, for $500 more than the standard Lite Compact, I don't know if it is worth it. The standard compact can be had for $649, add tax and transfer fee and you are at $716, give or take a few $$ depending on your sales tax rate. Remove the $75 rebate and you are sitting at $641. Add in $125 to have the barrel threaded with a collar and $250 to have the whole thing cerakoted and you are at a total of $1016 for a very light, corrosion resistant, threaded gun. That is a couple of hundred less than the Roughtechs are selling for and about $100 less than the CTR, which will be heavier. Spend that extra money on upgrading your glass.

Here's my humble "opinion."

Everyone has different priorities in choosing a rifle and cartridge. IMHO, you've chosen wisely on both. Just me now, if my rifle won't shoot under MOA @ 100 with carefully prepared hand loads - I trade / sell it. I'm OCD on accuracy.

>IF< your budget will allow it - based on first-hand experience - I highly recommend the CTR. Not only VERY accurate, its reasonable extra weight pays off in noticeably reducing felt recoil.
