Large caliber vs. small caliber debate

That answer is satisfactory to me but to play devils advocate: a braked 7 prc cutting felt recoil by 50% should be +/- a couple ft/lbs the same as a 6creed with a ultra 5 on it( for arguments sake I extrapolated on the tbac data concerning the recoil reduction of their suppressors). Even if it...

Large caliber vs. small caliber debate

Hold up I have a question. If recoil is the monster we are all trying to fight why does it seem that most of us use suppressors instead of 4 port brakes? would a braked 22 creed not be the holy grail? Who hunts with one instead of suppressed?

Considering downsizing to 6 cm from 7 PRC

I see your points and the fact that almost all of prs uses 6mm is definitely convincing. Im really not trying to argue with you so I hope that is not how you interpret my comments. I was just bringing up what I thought were valid concerns/criticisms. Ive seen on average 3-5 animals die by rifle...

Considering downsizing to 6 cm from 7 PRC

What I am curious to know is this: if you are shooting the same amount of rounds for practice( so the familiarity to the recoil, ergonomics of the gun, round count, etc is consistent) in both a 22 and a 6.5/7 prc. What is the actual difference in hit rates 700+ yds I can imagine quite a few...

Considering downsizing to 6 cm from 7 PRC

Opinions aside, it sounds like from a scientific perspective the correlation between hit rates and recoil is anything but strong? It also sounds like the shooter’s decision preferring a lower recoiling cartridge has more to do with spotting impacts rather than hit rates? It doesnt sound like the...

Considering downsizing to 6 cm from 7 PRC

what is the bigger variable? Or larger determining factor when we talk about a miss? The cartridge or the practice leading up to the shot? Imo between a 7prc down to a 6 creed in field conditions, 700+ yards, 9# rifle, adrenaline, whether you miss or hit; 95% percent( imo) of it is dependent...

Tikka hard bolt lift after dry firing. WTF

Ive lubed and cleaned and lubed the inside of the bolt body and fire pin assembly numerous times and added a dab of grease to the cocking ramp.

Tikka hard bolt lift after dry firing. WTF

It has improved. Still not as light as stock but will see if it improves. Ive ran the bolt and dry-fired about 200 times since lubing the crap out of it and it seems to be a positive trend.

Tikka hard bolt lift after dry firing. WTF

Im having heavy bolt lift after nitride as well. Ive cleaned the bolt numerous times to no avail. What do you think is going on exactly? I thought nitride was supposed to smooth out the action not make it run rough.

Its kinda funny when you step back and look at this thread. Hunters standing around a fire like “my shits good(throws down rifle)” next guy “ my shits good too(throws down rifle)” next guy holding his rifle like “what?!” Lol

    Silencerco Scythe TI review

They both sound like my gen 1 ultra 5. All on 18” 6.5 creed. Fine for a couple shots but you definitely get a little bit of percussion. I think the magnus having the bigger can but more aggressive brake is equal to the scythes smaller can but less aggressive brake. This is all just my perception...

I honestly dont see how Form is any more “right” tham JVB or Caylen. When you boil these arguments down they are all soft science at best. First hand experiences. Form at least explains the boundaries of his testing and acknowledges the vast amount of variables involved but he also comes off a...

I was aware the recall for those gen 2 ultras but still have not heard of one failing. Probably just dont know enough people with cans to have a large enough sample size.
