thanks, i shoot a lot so if i ended up making the middle pin my marked slider i would have a pretty good idea of where the top pin and bottom pin would be yardage wise.
my main thought is with the bottom pin as the slider as i have always done in a hunting situation doesn’t allow a solid...
Just getting done installing new strings on my bow and trying a new arrow out for the season and my mind started to wonder off into the "maybe i could do something different" As I am going to have to adjust my bow sight / tape for the new arrows anyway, i started to consider changing which pin i...
I just ordered the argali carbon. Thank you mighty mouse i hadn’t considered the upkeep of A2 outside of the blade retention. That made my decision for me, appreciate the feedback!
thanks indian summer appreciate the feedback ive broken down 4 elk now and have had no regrets of not having a replaceable blade knife with me. having two good knifes and a ceramic rod i have had virtually 0 complaints.
i am not buying a knife out of need but out of want, and not to be rude...
thanks, i went down the replacement blade options years ago when i was guiding whitetail hunts and while they are nice its not the path for me; i dont like throwing away and dealing with old blades for the convenience of having a sharp one handy. i much prefer a knife i can keep a lifetime and...
looking to pick up a new knife for this elk season as either a backup or primary depending how it all works out.
i have seen a lot of good things on the argali carbon but the iron will k1 doesnt have much out there for reviews. has anyone used both and have a preference one way or the other...
i am a big fan of heavy arrows and have been using injections and or fmjs for awhile but had good success with both gold tip pro hunters and carbon express maximas. i walked away from the heavy slow arrows for 3-4 years before i came back to the dark side. i do miss the flatter trajectory...
certainly going to hurt the wallet more then it did last year but we are still planning the 1600 mile trip. truck makes 23mpg highway but still adds a good amount of drain to the bank account
have personally watched 3 elk fall to the 270 and i would argue anyone that thinks a 140 gr accubond at any reasonable hunting distance isn’t more then sufficient
somewhat a newbie to the western game (3 years) i do however help a buddy whose a butcher so work up 40-60 deer a year. saying that our group of 3 has taken 5 elk in those 3 trips all made it to the truck boned out. probably takes another 20-30 minutes at the kill site but we’ll worth it in my...
figured i’d chime in as a long time lurker - most anything i would want to have answered has been discussed in great detail also like seeing what everyone’s got cooking for the new gear on the new year
thanks for all the reply’s. Agree i could purchase a more entry level rifle for the same price as rebarreling which i knew going into this. really like the layout of the 70 featherweight figured getting a shortened barrel on it and in a 7mm08 would get her back in the woods. also saves me from...
thanks, thinking the same thing. dont necessarily need a top notch barrel but at the end of the day the slight increase will be peace of mind if nothing else. 21 years of hunting the area and furthest rifle shot was 115 yards here, most coming 35-75 yards so top notch accuracy isn’t a premium...
first post but long time lurker, good to be aboard!
i am contemplating having my winchester model 70 featherweight (243 win) rebarreled to a 18” 7mm08. my understanding is the 243 to 7mm08 swap should be as simple as just the barrel swap? need to track down a decent smith in my area but trying...
