Maybe hunt back east on public land. I live in the Alleghenies and the NFs and WMAs near me are hunted and explored less than 30 years ago. Of course the feds don't manage the forest as well. But there is still solitude and decent hunting to be had for those that put in the steps.
I think the ability to hunt Mulies in pre rut and rut was why we chose MT. Also- we have been bowhunting river bottom whitetails out there for a few years over in SW Montana, and just love the state. So we wanted to try something totally different with rifles. I bought a 6.5 Creedmoor i want...
Cold right now here lol, but I have started trying to get in shape for some western hunting this year. where are you in central VA? I used to live in Hanover County.
Welcome! I'm new here too. And also getting ready to pull the trigger on a SO Redcliffe with stove. Will use it in SE Montana this year for first ever focused Muley hunting. Thought about the Breaks, and my son and I keep changing our minds lol.
I've been a lurker here for years, so figured I better pull my weight. I go out west pretty regularly on DIY hunts. Cant get my wife to pull up stakes and head to Montana, so thats my compromise!
Heading to SE Montana this year during mule deer rifle season. Love to hear from guys on this area...
Hey guys glad to be here to learn and share a little bit. I'm a hardcore hunter and farmer and live in Highland County VA, in the Alleghenies. Theres one post down lol!
