I have no experience with the Maven but I have a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 and would like to replace it with a better glass. I've glassed game in the clear desert air at something like 2 miles and couldn't tell if they were deer or antelope due to poor resolution! It should be easy because of the...
If you compare them side by side -- don't do it in the store. Take them outside and look at objects a mile away. The resolution is what you're looking for and a tree at a mile will show you the difference far better than the other side of the store!
I'm not only interested in the quality of the glass but the durability of the product itself! After reading all the drop tests on this site, I'm in the process of upgrading my optics and Trijicon seems to have the durability I want with the cost that I can somewhat afford -- a little at a time...
I have an inexpensive 3x9 Leupold Ultralite that I bought sometime during the late 80's or early 90's and mounted it on a lightweight custom .257 Ackley Improved! I've carried it crossways on the front of my ATV while riding some really rocky trails in the desert while hunting. It's always held...
I'm interested in this scope to save weight in my backpack! I have a Vortex 20x60x85mm that I now carry and have been very disappointed with the resolution at 60 power. I can find animals at well over a mile away with it at that power but have a lot of trouble determining what kind of animal it...
I no longer shoot any calibers that I use with IMR 4350 but over the years (since the early 60's) I've found I got better accuracy with IMR 4350 than any other powder tried and that includes H4350!
There are more annealing video's on YouTube than you can shake a stick at! I've been reloading since the early 60's and have never annealed anything! However several years ago I bought a .223 and decided to pick up range brass every time I went to the range. Since I now have all types of range...
The Sierra Gameking is a cup & core bullet and that type of bullet has been reliably taking game for 150 years! From your velocity, I assume you're asking about 165 gr bullets! If I were hunting elk with a .308 Winchester, I'd rather use 180 gr bullets!
Mitutoyo calipers are high quality! I've had good luck with Lyman digital scales but last Christmas I bought an RCBS Chargemaster Supreme and am highly impressed with it's consistency. Take a look at some of the excellent video's from the Handloader Magazine on YouTube...
Winchester WLR. However all my rifles are factory hunting rifles except one custom rifle but none seem to like one brand of primer over any other! I've done a lot of loading over the years for calibers ranging from .224, .243, 257, .277. 7mm, .308, .338 and .458 and have never found a brand of...
I've had 2ea 270 WSM's -- a Kimber Montana and a Tikka Lite! I tried bullet weights from 110, 130, 140 & 150 in both rifles using a variety of powders and primers. The brand of primer didn’t seem to make any difference in accuracy with either rifle but powders certainly did! I tried IMR-4831...
Any lube on your brass can attract any kind of dirt/lint or whatever -- and that's not something you want to introduce to the inside of your chamber! If the lube doesn't attract any dirt/lint, it will still be an issue when the primer ignites the powder because the case walls will not grip the...
