Colorado Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish Citizens Initiative.

I have been absolutely buried at work, 60-70 hour weeks for the last year... So I haven't been able to make any traction on this. Work is slowing down a bit, so I will try and get this back on track... I can help coordinate the effort, but this will take a group effort to get it moving.

What do You Sing on the Hike Out?

This sounds eeerily familiar to what I sing.

    Emergency blanket actual use?

This is also an important thing to consider. On the nights I have had to sleep out, I often pull out every single item in my bag that can be used to improve my situation. Laying out game bags on a Tyvek sheet for ground insulation and stuffing my feet and legs inside my backpack are all parts...

    Emergency blanket actual use?

I have used several different versions over the years, all due to unplanned nights out, primarily during September- October archery or early rifle elk hunts at anywhere from 8-11k elevation in Colorado (10-30 degrees, with a candle, or small fire). One really unpleasant night during 3rd rifle...

    Mountain lion encounters

Spiked out on a ridge a few years ago, was eating my breakfast and glassing the basins below when a good size cat came strolling out of the trees about 100 yards from where I had been sleeping an hour earlier, looked at me and ghosted back into the trees. Spooky.

Colorado OTC units that moved to draw units

Saw way less archery elk hunters, way more rifle bear hunters.

    Are Honda/Toyota/Mazda/Subaru overrated?

I've been driving Toyota's or Lexus since I was in college. Hard to even get interested in any other brand. They are easy to work on, tough as hell. I beat the older pickups up bad in college, and still couldn't break more than minor stuff. Had a Ford Ranger with transmission issues, and an...

    Packing service near Denver

Not sure what outfitters work Lost Creek, but you can contact the Forest Service and they can give you a list of the outfitters who are permitted there. I live in the area and if you get in a pinch, don't be afraid to reach out for help.

    Whats the best of Vortex?

Viper PST II 6-24 x 50 ffp moa (Phillipines manufactured)- Had this for roughly 8-9 years and beat the snot out of it. Glass is nice and clear, although my Trijicon is better. Dislike the exposed windage knob greatly, wouldn't buy another one because of this. Had no issues with RTZ until last...

101 ways to ruin a tent

Mice have chewed holes in several of mine, just to be A-holes. Had a friend wake up to a porcupine sitting on his backpack 6" from his face eating the straps and backpad, then proceeding to eat the one sitting next to it as well. Don't even get me started on how many game bags I have sitting...

    Starlink

Our Starlink dish was damaged by a recent golf ball sized hailstorm. Put in a repair ticket to see if the dish could be repaired or if we had to buy a new one. Within 15 minutes received a reply, new dish on the way, no charge, they wanted the old dish back to see what the point of failure...

What did you do today to get ready for Elk season?

Nothing... I'm hunting bears and white tail does this year. But one of my bear hunts is scouting for next years *hopefully* guaranteed 10 point muzzle loader tag. Stared at the topo. Honey do list... checked off a few items. Wife added more items... Bought some hydration mixes. Got out some...

    PEAX SOLITUDE 4 TIPI GIVEAWAY

The trekking pole reinforcement is interesting. Does it require screwing adjustable poles out to fit? I saw that backcountry Z poles do not work, I'm assuming this is a similar design to the Black Diamond Z-pole? Nice design touches, such as the added high strength reinforcements, and top vents.

Colorado “Managing Wildlife in an Era of Mutualism.”

My apologies for getting this started and then stalling out on it, I've been overwhelmed between a huge push on a major project at work and an insane 2 year old at home. I will be revisiting this shortly and getting the ball rolling again. It may be best served if we can get together a...
