Sorry if this has been asked/posted before (I searched), does Colorado publish the number of OTC tags they sold for each unit? I can't find it on CPW's website but might be missing it.
Thanks!
For me, it's this. It's really easy to talk yourself into leaving an area for whatever reason (maybe elk on otherwise of the mountain are bugling more, etc.). But it never seems to work out. If you're seeing elk, are into elk, you can kill those elk. Don't leave them.
Check out the TrailMagik. It's been the best option I found because I can run my normal pack and carry the kid in the front. I never found a designated kid carrier that gave me enough storage.
I think you got it in the regular draw (but who knows!?). I've got 5 and and I'm afraid I'll have a repeat of last year's draw; i.e., the round number doesn't draw it. Anything over 5 will draw but 5 won't do it.
I think you will be fine. Fill up in Malta or somewhere on 191 and head in. If you're planning to hunt the CMR you will definitely be okay. You will end up driving and parking. Even if you switch sides of the unit I think you will still be okay.
Well, looks like the biologists agree re: elk not being impacted too bad. The areas I'm planning to hunt in Wyoming have increased tags and no reductions of any kind in the updated proposed-regulations WY just put out.
Sorry if this has been discussed in other winter kill threads, but anybody withdrawing applications changing plans based on winter kill projections/ reports? I'm going to let my WY application ride but would be curious what others (especially locals to WY, MT, CO, etc.) think.
We do a similar version of this. I always let my hunting buddy have first opportunity because we drive his truck. Wear and tear on his truck = first opportunity. If we go a day without an opportunity, we generally switch up who is up to bat first each day too.
As others have said, how you do...
Shelter would be for sleeping. I can see the value with kids to having the bigger shelter. Does it change anyone's input in the fact that I have young kids. Both girls, and oldest is 5. So I've got some years before I have 2 adults and two teenagers/ "full size humans."
Assuming I'd run...
Looking at purchasing a hot tent/tipi this year. I'm planning on a four person tipi so I can sleep my family of four in there in nice weather and run a stove and two people in colder weather. Leaning towards a Seek Cimarron with a Seek stove. Judging from the number of thread's I've read on...
Burning Wyoming points on the general tag. Should have enough to not go special. Thinking about mixing it up this year and going during rifle season.
I'll put in for Montana with zero points since I drew it last year. If I get lucky in MT, I'll go there. Maybe I'll get really lucky and...
Tried the Greenbelly Meal bars this year. For me, if I eat a whole bar and drink about 20 oz of water I am full for a long time. I was skeptical from a "meal replacement" perspective but it does work. I'm going to try and use them to pack less food and reduce my overall weight/size on my food...
