Ok, a buddy and I are experienced deer hunters from the midwest and we'd like to try an elk hunt this fall. Heres what I know (assume) so far, any input is appreciated.
1. We will have good boots/packs/clothing, as well as rifles that we will be competent with out to 600y from field rest...
Hi, I have a new Eberlestock HiSpeed pack in black, it's never been out of my living room. I thought it would be a great hunting daypack, but it's just to small and narrow for my 6'5" wide frame! I'm open to trades for something that will. I can add cash as needed. $150, thanks!
You can do a really neat finish using natural grass as a pattern. Paint your base color all over (I reccomend your "middle" color light to dark)and let it dry. Then grab a thick handful of grass you cut from a ditch (pompous grass works great), spread it out a bit (not too much), hold it next...
One thing to bear in mind is any rifle firing a supersonic bullet will NOT have the nice "thud" that a suppressed subsonic load has. You will always get the loud "crack" of the bullet breaking the sound barrier. It IS much better than no can, but not as quiet as most expect! One advantage is the...
Thehighroad, 24hourcampfire, longrangehunting and the classifieds here are a good source for info. It also varies ALOT by where you live, here in Iowa itd sell for 4-500 ONLY because the only thing you could hunt here with it is coyotes. The same gun in MO would bring 20% more...
It definitely looks like a well built unit for a tac rifle. But more than I'd want on a hunting rig I think. Itd look good on my 6.5 long range rig tho!😁
Hey all, I'm a big guy who's going on an elk hunt in NM next year, I'll be hunting on horses, so I dont need to be able to carry a weeks worth of stuff, but I DO need a pack big enough to fit me, so I'm considering buying a bigger frame pack than I need. I'd rather not spend more than I need to...
And it very well may. But the recoil impulse of that 300 is MUCH sharper than a .308. Again, your call my friend. You'll never know until you try, I just hope that if it does go bad it's at the range, not pointing at the animal of a lifetime. I'm in Iowa, so I have to pay alot to go on hunts...
Any entry level scope would raise my caution, absolutely nothing wrong with the vortex per se, but you are asking ALOT out of a scope- a hard kicking gun to be used for hunting in an extreme environment. The scope you chose would meet the minimum standards at best, as would entry level scopes...
Great rifle, I have an xbolt western hunter in 28 nosler that I'm setting up myself. My only caution for you is on your scope choice, I'm a vortex geek and one is going on my rifle, but I wouldnt use the crossfire on a hard kicking, hard use rifle, they are a good entry level glass, but I'd at...
