I talked with one of their engineers before sierra bought them. The copper bullets are 99.9% copper.
Although he didn’t outright say it, he also inferred that the lrx opening better at a lower speed, is just marketing hype, which also mirrors my experience. They don’t expand any better at below...
Barnes lrx, tsx and ttsx, are all made from solid copper, not an alloy. Always have been. I don’t know how one can make solid copper softer/harder. It’s not possible.
They use the cavity size in the tip as an expansion variable. Also, I have shot and recovered quite a few lrx, tsx, and ttsx...
If you are going to go out west much, don’t get a Leupold, unless you like to chase zero. The shots are longer, and animals don’t stick around long in open country. The last thing you need is another variable to account for.
Get the LEM. My buddy has a Cabela’s carnivore, and it sucks. Constant problems. It doesn’t work right, and I had to bring my LEM to grind the rest of his elk up this year.
How can they redesign a scope, and still get it so wrong? It kind of reminds me of that show “punked”. Everyone asks for slim turrets, and they make them longer? Wtf?
Here is an example of no company being immune to problems, and how other disciplines of shooters deal with it. Just like the drop tests here don’t lie, scope checkers don’t lie either.

Like I said, if you want...
Lol. I can tell you don’t get out much. I now trust my gear 100%. No need to check zero unless I switch ammo lots(which rarely happens because I buy in bulk).
I also don’t need to trust pro shooters or elite military units, because I shoot enough to know what works and what doesn’t. That’s how...
You proved my point. The reason people have an issue with that statement, is they are emotionally vested in their gear. No amount of proof otherwise, or reasoning with them will change that.
I consider the scope tests here just information. Thats all it is. There is no need to defend certain...
This post reads as it’s from someone who is in denial. It’s not that people don’t like leupold, it’s just that serious shooters don’t trust them.
There is a reason for the early BR crowd freezing scopes, and using external adjustments. It wasn’t because scopes were dependable.
All it takes...
Good grief. People basically spoon fed them the recipe for a much improved scope, but it looks like SWFA is going to keep on putting square pegs in round holes. 🤦🏻♀️
Being realistic, it’s either going to take time to draw, or LO tag money. At 62 time is against you, so that is something to consider. Finding a 300+ bull isn’t that difficult in a lot of western units. Getting a tag is another story.
I very much agree. Another thing that most people don’t realize, is that the vast majority of companies don’t have many/any owners, or employees that are enthusiasts working there. This is why there is such a disconnect between forums like this, and product reality.
I listened to the majority...
Maven is in an odd situation. Some of their designs work, while others don’t. Updating the designs that don’t would be the correct choice, but it will cost money. Are they a big enough company to absorb that cost, in order to justify the potentially extra sales?
