    Re fletching arrows

Shoot the arrow with the lost vane as far away from you as possible in an area you’ll never find it and forget about everything you’re thinking of doing. That should help cure the OCD.

    Vane Weight

Yep, way to deep. You’re probably having tea with Alice at this point.

I can't take the time to aim.

Target panic started for me in the late 90’s while shooting a recurve, that had a draw weight too heavy for me, G Fred Asbell style (swing draw, snap shooting). That TP moved into my compound shooting with a wrist strap trigger release (Scott hair trigger). I tried a ton of stuff mentioned from...

    Switching to Single Bevel Broadheads

One thing almost no talks about is the fact single bevel broadheads have an edge that’s more fragile than a double bevel due to the fact the angle of a single bevel is less than that of a double bevel resulting in a thinner cutting edge that can get damaged or fail more easily.

Iron will field points worth it?

Not at all worth it to me. Gold Tip and X-Spot each have easy pull field points with similar designs at 30% - 50% the cost if that’s something I’m interested in for 3D. A quick search on Lancaster turned up a couple of other options with the same feature, too. I don‘t really need a durable field...

bow tuning issues- is my grip that screwed?

At 80# draw. 29.5” long and 185 grains up front, your arrows could be marginally under spined. Try removing weight from the front end see what happens. Yeah, I know right rear is classic weak but arrows shot off of drop away rests don’t always behave like they did on the old style side pressure...

    Arrow penetration

The accuracy and consistency of my chronograph numbers improved dramatically with a light kit and moving shooting through the chronograph indoors. Outside, like you, and the person you quoted, noted I would get wide swings especially when the sun was low in the sky.

    Dall Ram rifle target

There are a few Rocky Mountain ram paper archery targets available on Lancaster archery but nothing for Dall’s. You could always find a high quality digital picture, have it blown up and have a bunch custom printed.

Why Shoot Right Fletching if Your Arrow Rotates CCW?

Because most turkeys only have right wings…. On a more serious note, I remember checking this on my set up years ago after Randy Ulmer brought it up. It made sense and it was Randy Ulmer speaking.… My arrows were clocking to the left and all my jigs were right so I decided then it didn’t matter...

Shooting yoir bow while on a backpack hunt

I made several (four) similar 12” x 12” targets from a single 24” x 24” x 2” sheet of the highest density ethafoam I could find. I bought two sheets in 2010 before a Dall Sheep hunt and still have one uncut sheet in the garage. They‘ve worked well on several hunts using them the way you...

    Sheep Show 2024

A few thoughts…. Even with being a Reno resident I don’t attend every year. Either traveling or too busy fishing, hunting to spend a full day or part of a day there some years. I did volunteer this year and was there from early morning until the end of each banquet but only spent a couple hours...

What side bar stablizer should i get?

Get the one that balances your bow and if it’s already balanced then don’t get one. In other words try a few out at your local shop and go from there.

    Fletching choice

.340 will be slightly weak with a 100 grain point, and even more weak with a 125 grain point. I‘d go with a .300 spine. Better to be a little stiff than marginally weak.
  14. T

    Fletching choice

Unless your draw length is really short those .340 spine Axis will likely be underspined.

Stone sheep meat, horns, & cape transport

I’ve done two caribou hunts and two sheep hunts in Canada and never had any issue bringing meat, cape or sheep horns back into the U.S. via plane. Both sheep hunts I packed the cape and horns in my checked bags and they went through without incident.

    2024 Bows?

    Speaking from experience?

    2024 Bows?

I think 2006 was about the time parallel limb bows were first released, correct? That’s also the last really big compound bow innovation that I can think of.

    Footing FMJ shafts

    Footing FMJ shafts

Depends on the outside diameter of your FMJ. All FMJ spines have the same inside diameter but different OD.

    fixed broadhead question.

As previously mentioned your bow might be slightly out of tune, or the Stingers you’re trying aren’t perfectly aligned with the arrow shaft you’re shooting them on, have a slight wobble and are causing the issue.
