I own 160 acres in Montana that used to hold lots of mule deer. I have already been working to improve the existing water sources, but this year I am hopeful I will get a well drilled. Assuming I get that done, that will give me the opportunity to maintain solid water holes even during the...
I am excited to see a Tikka chassis - It looks like it is very modular by design... and noting how much aftermarket support Tikka has, I would suspect before too long there will be a ton of aftermarket options to customize this exactly how you want it. It looks like a carbon fiber forend and a...
———Update ——-
After some sleep, and some lights in the garage. No more mystery, I made a bad first shot. The first shot was even lower than I thought. The bullet struck the lower leg and blew a hole all the way through it… unfortunately there was no vitals behind that leg to also be...
First elk with the 77gr TMK 223 (16” tikka) combo. Shot was roughly 150 yards in the timber. Shot hit lungs and heart, bull was dead in less than 20 yards. Very happy with the combo.
Broadside shot at 175 yards. 16” tikka rough tech shooting 73gr Eldm. Buck ran roughly 40 yards with blood pouring out of his mouth. Lungs were soup. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until we quartered him.
Photo has the quarter removed, and this shows the entrance. Roughly a 3-4 inch...
Killed my first deer last night with a 73gr eldm bullet out of the 16' tikka. Roughly a 285 yard shot, and the bullet worked as hoped. The deer went less than 20 yards with his heart/lung destroyed... A very fun setup to run suppressed and now i can say effective as well.
Despite what EuroOptics website said, when my .223 roughtech ranch showed up, I have a 1/2-28 thread pitch. Not the end of the world for me, but I would have preferred 5/8. Just be aware, I think there is a mixed bag of thread pitches on the 223.
I have a Tikka .243 with the 1-10 twist. What is everyone’s favorite bullet for deer and elk? I have been running nosler partitions, but things seem to die slow.
