I love my Danner Pronghorns. They're very conformable (toe room) and have held up very well....i've ran them to the limits in water, etc. A little heavy for elk hunting IMO. I have 400G and the feet can get cold below 30.
I had a rage get hung up on a personal best whitetail rib.....good shot. Still got some penetration. First animal I wasn't able to recover. Needless to say, I switched arrow weight, broadhead (single bevel), and draw weight. Mechanicals work great till they don't.
Seems like this should be the community of integrity....both in the field and out. Ethical hunting and ethical approach to those that have less experience with game. Lead by example.
Interesting to hear your setup. I did just repair my smack down rest, but thing is I’ll get a bullet hole then bad tears then a bullet hole. All mixed. Heard low tears can be underspided. Idk
I tried 100 grain field point paper tune....mixed results. Haven’t been at distance yet. Thinking about cutting them, but hear u want the arrow 1 over DL. Then spine might be better too. Gotta look I to it more
Curious what people think on the below arrow setup. Easton spine charts give ranges from 300-250 for various carbon arrows based on specs/heavier head. I think they're under spined by how they paper tune and fly. 300 is as low as the FMJ's go if you're not shooting deep six or dangerous game...
Been reading the forms for years, but finally decided to get an account. No one I know bow hunts, especially western bow hunting. This site is my daily reading. Should be able to draw a low point CO tag, getting a garmin inreach, and hitting the mountain solo.....with whatever other gear I...
Does anyone have experience or input on Bone Broadheads? Been looking at them for a bit. Randy Newberg used them on a Bison hunt and seemed to have good luck.
Lost the biggest deer of my life this Nov with a Rage mechanical knockoff......hit bone and broke. Only using fixed 1 piece...
I use my metcalf to haul stand, sticks, gear......and a quartered deer on the way out. :D It's worked really well for me. I can easily fill up the metcalf with bibs, coats, gear, and strap the stand/sticks to the back with the straps.
Put in for the Gifford WMA lottery. It'll be the best public whitetail hunting option within 2+hrs. Approx. 10 min away from Offutt. I hunt it hard every year. Lottery deadline is around late July.
Hunting public land whitetail in NE this Nov. Decide to go as deep as possible to get away from pressure. Everything was flooded, but though I knew a way around.....it worked. Found good sign, hang my stand, begin pulling up my bow/pack....then boom, a guys and his kid out of no where....came...
Does anyone have input on trails and road on onx? I'll be scouting land, great trails or road, then boom, it cuts through a corner of private land. My guess would be that the trails are off limits when you hits private, but the roads are accessible to drive on. Is that right? Thanks.
Used onx hunting NE public land. Great for scouting, tracking, hunt strategy, etc. Save high res maps. Got in a bind saving larger, low res maps. It allow me to hang n hunt deeper with a better strategy.
