I have a tract PRS scope. It’s been great with heavy use spinning turrets target shooting, on backpack hunts getting beat up. I had my rifle fall this season and the gun had no zero shift.
I currently have a 300 prc launching 245 bergers in a 15lb rifle. Despite the heavy rifle, you have to be very careful with set up and shooting technique to ensure shot to shot consistency. It’s an extremely accurate rifle, shooting .3” groups at 150 yards, but it’s also very unforgiving.

I decided on the 12x42 hdx today. I really am looking for a chest binocular to use off hand. I have 15x56 swaros for long glassing sessions off a tripod when I want to spend time picking apart country.
The 50mm were so big it defeated the purpose of what I wanted to use them for.
Any other feedback on these? Looking to buy and I’m wondering if it’s early QC production issues with the Pros.
I have the 16x42 HDX and compared them to my buddies 16x50 pros he just purchased. The pair of pros we tested were better than the hdx in resolution and ease of view (larger exit...
They are the way of the future. My wife ran 16x42 zulu6s this year and out glassed everyone. I prefer the 12x42 myself because the exit pupil is larger.
I’ve looked threw the new 50mm zulu6s, and they are better and worth the premium price I think.
Rl23 is likely a little fast for optimal case fill and velocity achievement shooting a 190gr bullet. I would look at N570 and Retumbo. N570 will give higher velocities, but I had great success with Retumbo for consistency.
I have a Tract PRS scope and a Nightforce NX8. Both have been equally reliable. The NX8 has better glass if that matters to you. Dialing reliability and zero retention have been flawless in both with a lot of use. I have a private range that goes out to 1200 yards, so they get shot a lot.

I like 1s for ducks and geese close and far. It gives you more range than 3s and 4s, and then doesn’t tear up as much duck when they are decoying as smaller shot. 2s are my second choice if I can’t find 1s.
Tell that to the guys breeding and raising giant deer on deer farms.
It has been scientifically proven that good feed and a healthy fawn at birth do contribute to larger antler growth, but that’s one piece of many factors. Genetics is still a major factor.
Deer farms have shown that genetic...
I had a Kowa 55 first gen. It had incredible glass and the dual focus is better than the barrel focus on the Swarovski. That being said, I pack an 85mm Swarovski with me now even on week+ long backpacking trips. The larger objective just gives superior optical results at higher magnification...
If you want a double barrel shotgun, go with it. As far as what works for upland hunting, which I do plenty of including chuckar, a 12 gauge semi auto is my preferred choice. Here, for chuckar you can hunt with a full magazine and are not restricted to just three shells. Often, chuckar flush far...
You want at a minimum 3 points to confirm zero and drop. You are modeling an arch. You can be right on at two points on the arch but be off in the middle. Draw it on paper and you will see what I mean.
I zero at 100, confirm at 350, 600, and 800, then finally at 1200 yards if the conditions...
I had a Kowa 554, Swaro 85 atx, and 115 atx.
I recently sold the 55mm Kowa and kept the two bigger spotters. I preferred the Kowa focus wheel over the Swarovski, but the small 55mm lens just could not hang with the bigger optics. I found that I never used the Kowa, even when I was backpacking...
