Looking for Info 2018 Dall Sheep

Gana River does backpack and horse back. I know Arctic Red is mostly (or maybe all ) backpack. Harold Grinde (Gana) is a great outfitter as is Tavis Molner at Arctic Red Both of those are good. I would stay away from Redstone but all the other outfits are good. All but Arctic Red and Gana use...

    Outfitters for archery Dahl sheep

Gana River Outfitters. Harold Grinde is a super outfitter and has a few great archery areas for Dall sheep. He will only book a few archery hunters a year but would be worth trying to book with. His outfit and Arctic Red do not use helicopters. Most do in NWT.

Sheep Hunt Optics - Archery Hunt

I would say that the 8x binos would be fine. Especially with swaros you get what you pay for. Light is rarely an issue in NWT for sheep hunting and Dalls are typically not difficult to spot. The bigger field of view wont hurt and although I use 10x I can't see 8x being a problem. Dalls can...

How Old is this Dall Shhep?

I would say 9 but as mentioned above, really difficult to be sure without looking at it. (could be older for sure) Lots of good tips above. False annuli often do not have the same deep ring around the whole circumference of the horn. The angle is also key ( I usually look on the inside of the...

What do you do with your Dall Sheep cape?

Ram Dreamer- Do your dorsal cut all the way down the back and continue the cut out on the top of the tail along the top and center of the tail. You will reach the end of the bone and can then skin the tail out around the small bone in the tail. Just be sure not to nick the end of the tail as...

    Desert Bighorn Sheep near Phoenix?

I don't mind hiking in somewhere, just would like a general area to go look! Parks and protected areas are fine as I don't want to interfere with hunters.

    Desert Bighorn Sheep near Phoenix?

I am heading down from Canada for a bachelor party in Phoenix in a few weeks and have an extra day. I will have a rental car and was wondering if there are any places where I might get to see a desert Bighorn in the wild? I have had a pretty neat season and been on Rocky Mountain Bighorn...

    KUIU's new tent???

Kuiu has been good with this in the past. I sent some gaiters back that had issues with the buckle. They fixed it free of charge, sent them back for free and credited my credit card for my cost to return the item to them. Not many companies will do this and I was surprised when they offered this...

    Quest for Stone's, part three

Nice write up and great pictures. You will have an easier time spotting the Dalls next season! Stone sheep hunting can be tricky and I often do too much hiking and not enough glassing. Love the colour up on the mountains.

Looks like I found something that should work for the hunt! Thanks to all who looked and offered help. That sawtooth and oval stove might be on the wishlist now!

    WTB Lightweight tent with stove

As the title says, Looking to buy a lightweight shelter with a stove for a later season sheep hunt. The area I am going into has lots of firewood so this would make the most sense if possible. I will be by myself so small is ok and the lighter the better. Thank you, Andrew

Gore Tex boots are ALL a joke.....c'mon

Treat your boots often with a good waterproofing product like Nikwax. Then wear gaitors to keep the water from getting down from the top and you should be good. I wear Meindel Alaskans from Cabelas and Kuiu gaiters and my feet are often the driest part on my body when walking through we brush.
