I shot a bull at 650 last year seated with mine- brush was too high for prone. I regularly shoot steel out to 700 comfortably seated- past that I like to get prone. Full standing still gets tricky for me past 500 on steel. I carry it everywhere with me, just cut weight elsewhere. The 34L, Scout...
RRS 34L is the only tripod that has met my expectations for stability standing with a straight spotter. I have not tried their smaller series in all fairness, just went with the big boy. It's a little chunky though...
Deka/ East Penn. Be sure to look at cold cranking amp ratings on the AGM's in comparison. In some cases, flooded batteries are best suited for cranking. For instance in my boat, I have 3 AGM's and a single flooded with the flooded isolated as a cranking only battery and the AGM's to run the...
I also like the nano puff jacket and vest. The First Lite Brooks Sweater is great with a little more insulation and not too bulky to layer a shell over. Fit is pretty similar to a nano. I find myself wearing it a lot as a stand-alone jacket as well.
Anyone else find the focus wheel to be unusually stiff on their Revic's? I was hoping mine would break in a little with use, but it's still stiffer than a dead cat.
Natural Balance Duck & Potato. My dog is prone to allergies and full-on allergic to corn and wheat -the limited ingredient food has been working well for him. He pounds it whereas he turned others away. However, I do know people have varying opinions on limited ingredient food. The above is what...
Also in the underwhelmed camp with the glass after spending some time with them. If you are used to Swaro quality glass, I cannot see anyone being happy with them as a glassing tool, but they are the cat's ass for a killing tool. Like @huntnful , my NL's or STX still tag along.
Are you looking at a straight or an angled spotter, and do you want to use it standing? Those 2 questions will include and or eliminate a lot of options. IME you can get away with less tripod with an angled than a straight, but I prefer a straight, and I like to glass standing.
A simple item I always keep in my toolbox that hasn't been mentioned is a cheap 6' x 8' tarp. Nice to have something to throw down changing a tire in the rain and mud- nice to throw down in the snow when tossing chains on. Throw it away and get another for 10 bucks.
I like a good tapered wood...
