FYI, the access bag works fairly well on the Avail 2200. You create some “danglers” but it does a good job of becoming a compression panel.
At least for me.
The Pop-Up would probably be my first stop to assess how it would suit for use.
That said, I used a SG frame with a SO Merlin and a variety of pouches for some very long days this year and am happy with that.
Not sure yet how I feel about this... but cue the massive infighting in the hunter and outdoors communities. Hopefully the states can be proactive with good plans and not get driven to a reactive approach.
Before joining the fray, remember that eating our own only allows the real threats to...
SG 5900 is my answer for this, although for dedicated day trips or warmer temp overnights I’ll throw the Avail on the frame instead and use the meatshelf for overflow if needed.
I passed on the Hellcat due to “play money” availability at the time but I had I known it was going to be so short lived I would have bought two. Would love to see another run or an offspring of the Hellcat and TG2.
Do some googling on the origins of the warning label and the measures some companies choose to, or are forced to, use when selling nutritional/food products in CA.
Frankly, I wouldn’t worry about it and it’s a commonplace label.
While not exactly germane to this thread I’ve had a similar pack selection journey and I love the Seek Outside offerings but would also encourage you to look at hill people gear for simple, hard-use utility. I went to the Ute as soon as Kifaru canned the Argali/Tahr series and have been very...
Pretty much what the title says, bought it brand new and never got around to doing anything with it. Tikka .308s usually shoot like lasers. I also have some ammo I’d be willing to sell with it.
Asking $650 shipped; I’ll entertain other offers but please be mindful of shipping costs.
I will...
So for dayhunts and short to middle distance packouts how does the hive mind feel out the Pop-Up series?
I like the prices and sizes and I know some updates and new colors are coming soon. I know a true framed pack with a proper belt will always be the better option but I think these packs have...

$175 Shipped, not really looking for any trades right now.
The original color scheme, grey/foliage with the black xpac and accents.
Used it two days on an elk hunt, no discernible signs of use. Great little bag, just not the best mate for my long torso and 6'5" self. Going to get a full...
I had one, and regret selling it to the point I’m about to buy a new one.
I think it is fairly sizeable for EDC, at least for my needs, but it carries well and I wouldn’t hesitate to use it for such a thing.
I know some credible guys here in the PNW that hunt deer and elk with 6.5Gs. They both shoot a metric f-ton of 6.5G recreationally so they know where they are hitting. That said, they are both disciplined and mature to have self-imposed ungulate limits at 225 yds. How they got to that number...
Just like the title... anybody hunt with a handgun? Looking at taking a .454 Blackhawk to the backcountry this year. Interested to hear your thoughts, experiences, and set-ups. I guess I am immediately more interested in the revolver side of things, rather than the TC rigs and whatnot...
