    If he is on your trust, then he can be in possession, as long as your laws allow a person under 21 to have one. I don't think he can buy one on his own until 21 though, or at least not via a dealer. The laws are dumb, the NFA is dumb, etc.

    I have not needed to blood trail any of the deer I have shot with a .350 and the bear creak. All have been one shot, dead within a couple seconds, fall within sight, except a button buck I hit way back. He limped off maybe 40 yards, and I put a finishing shot in him and a dropped there.

    If you want a K length can, then get a 6.5 bore one. OCL hydrogen K, etc. With a short can, bore size makes more difference vs longer cans.

    I sorta think if the only time a kid is in the woods, is sitting still, being cold and miserable hunting, then the odds are low they will stick with it. If you want your kids to turn into hunters, I think having a whole family outdoors lifestyle is probably a way to increase the odds. Camping...
