Hunting them during the rut was the biggest part of the experience if you ask me. Hearing them scream off in the distance made you think a dinosaur was heading your way. Archery is an addiction in itself let alone adding Elk to the equation. Couldn't agree more.

All excellent advice! I've been lurking and reading for a little bit. This first year is more or less a learning experience and our goal is to just have fun. If we even hear an elk we will be happy! Any specific suggestions on food to take in for full day hunts? We will be back at the cabin...
Hey everybody just wanted to introduce myself. Heading to Wyoming Sept. 16th for our first ever Elk hunt. DIY Unit 34. (Have a friend lives there and is helping us so not fully DIY). Just wondered if anybody had any gear tips for us? Any must haves or don't waste your time ons?
