    Painless load development (mine)

@Formidilosus thanks for dumbing this down for me. Made it much more enjoyable this year when I decided to switch from a 145 LRX after less then desirable results on a moose and goat that eventually went down. 7SAUM 162 ELDM, had H4350 on hand, a lot of F-class guys seems to shoot it so why...

    The great sock debate 2024

Hands down my favorite hunting sock, a bit blown away it's marketed as a 'hunting' sock but really is amazing https://darntough.com/products/unisex-merino-wool-boot-midweight-hunting-socks Cushion only where it's needed, warm enough when it's cold, not too thick for August with a great tight...

    KIFARU ARK FRAME review

Which water bottle holder are you using? I know the Kifaru takes two vertical slots but the Stone Glacier only takes one.

    KIFARU ARK FRAME review

I’ve already rucked with it twice and I like everything about this frame over the duplex lite. The 26 was a big frame, the 25 feels perfect at 5’ 11”. I’m a 32 waist and the small is great. Hiking feels better at 45lbs now and I don’t feel I gave anything up at 105lbs either.

Kifaru KU 4300 review **Updated 2/25/24**

Just because I think the weight weenies are in this thread. The stripped sheep and goat weight of the pack is 5lbs 0.2oz Pretty sick setup for 80.2oz What I removed... - Removed all logos - Cut down straps to size - Replaced all zipper pulls and bag cinch with 2.5mm cordage - Removed key...

    New Packs from Kifaru 2024

Sooo how many of you own the frame and how many are just speculating here? I've got my new ARK loaded to 105lbs (60lb sandbag + 45lb ruck plate) ... I'm coming from a 26" Duplex Lite and the frame is every bit of a dump truck as the last one. What pictures do you want to see? I'm 5' 11" 185

With regards to options for magazines check UnknownMunitions, that’s what we run for an XLR medium.

Kifaru KU 4300 review **Updated 2/25/24**

Of course once I got my setup I had to weigh it, 25" ARK Frame with Small Belt and the KU4300+Lid is 5lbs 10.5oz or 5.66lbs which is right on the money at 5.65lbs per the site. Already started surgery on the frame and pack. Need to do some measuring now to figure out where to cut the straps.

    7 SAUM Input

What’s your load? I personally have a SA 7 SAUM in a 22” as well but if I had to do it over I’d go medium with 180 ELD-M in 22”. In BC so no suppressors for us.

    7 SAUM Input

    I’d be shooting a 180 ELD-M out of a 22” barrel medium action with a brake.

    New Packs from Kifaru 2024

I’m a big fan of high load lifter height. My Ark/KU combo should get here next week if customs doesn’t hold it. I’ll load it up with my 60lb ruck plate and all my gear to mimic a normal 100lb pack out.

R Value quantifiably impactful...w/out bag upgrade???

You'll love the new pad and it doesn't seem like you're doing anything that requires you to be uber-lite. Enjoy all of that new insulation!

R Value quantifiably impactful...w/out bag upgrade???

I just went with an XTherm at 7.3 and haven’t had to think about it. The weight penalty is marginal compared to the XLite 4.5 which is just 3oz. If it’s in your budget the new NXT pads are even comfier. You will notice a massive difference in comfort going from a sub 2 pad. I wouldn’t honestly...

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

Good point on the crampons To further that, if you go with a fully automatic boot for crampons it should be stiff enough to handle the terrain. At a minimum I’d have a heel welt like the 2092’s but better with the toe as well.

    Alaska Goat Hunt Boots

I found the 2092 to be too soft for goats especially with crampons. Nice sheep boot though. I did go a 1/2 size down. The tried and trusty La Sportiva Nepal’s are my go to now. Goats live in some unforgiving terrain, you need a boot to handle it.
