    Love for the AMR?

Yeah, although that also had a full native on top as well. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Love for the AMR?

I have a 28" tactical frame with aluminum stays, so the frame without the bag is over 5lbs. I extended the snow collar 12", added lots of points to add pockets, added a big rectangular door with zippers on both sides and Velcro on top and some other small things. Sent from my Pixel 2 using...

    Backcountry fishing

For Fly Fishing (I prefer fishing lakes): 9ft 5wt 4-piece Grays GR30; I've thought about getting a 3WT, but haven't yet. I just use my refular rod as a 4-piece is plenty packable For Spin Fishing: Brookies and other small Trout: Daiwa Spinmatic UL Travel Rod (4-piece) 6' Pflueger...

    Which steripen?

The Ultra and Pure+ have built in rechargeable batteries. The Adventurer has CR123 batteries which are easy to find good rechargeables. The Classic runs on a AA.

    Which steripen?

They all have a sensor, but they don't all have the same sensor. The adventurer one specifically has a shitty version of the sensor. As far as I'm aware the Classic and Ultra do not have the same issue as Aron uses the Classic and Frank uses the Ultra and both have no issues at high altitudes.

Kifaru Urban Ruck up for sale

They said it will fit a 15" macbook in the organizer, so that's roughly 14"x10". According to the Avery site a 1/2" binder is 11.7x10.1. The only concern might be that you may not be able to get a Nalgene to fit in the side pocket with rigid stuff like that in the bag, but based on the...

    Backcountry fishing

I have a Stowaway 5wt and the thing casts like crap. Hopefully the 3wt works better. I mostly fish lakes when I backpack in, so casting is fairly important to me. If you're going to fish rivers and streams it's not going to be as big of a deal.

    Which steripen?

There have been some great deals recently on the Pure+, which has good reviews but I'd warn that the battery is quite small so I'd only go that route if you plan on carrying a charging device for longer trips. The Ultra is the best rechargeable option, but is also expensive.

    Which steripen?

The Adventurer (Green and Black) is a gigantic piece of shit that will not work with high mountain spring and runoff that has low mineral content. The sensor that detects when it is in the water is crap; I've gotten it to work at high altitude by adding salt to the water to increase conductivity.

    Backcountry fishing

Your question is too broad. 1) fly or spin fishing 2) Where are you going to be fishing; my setup changes depending on size of fish that I expect to see, species, river, stream, lake, etc.

    Insight on new kifaru frame?

The tag bags were designed with the intent that they be used along with a bag full of gear which would then make your load wider than the frame and prevent bowing Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

    Insight on new kifaru frame?

Yes, a round object such as a sandbag smaller than the width of the frame would qualify. It's a thinner frame sheet that's the only thing that provides that planar rigidity. If you're going to strap a round object to a flat plane you are going to need the thicker sheet. Sent from my Pixel 2...

    Fenn's Treasure

Probably too far to walk from the initial reference point; probably downriver but most places have highways that parallel most rivers even if they aren't right net to them. I believe the "put in below the home of Brown" is referring to some sort of rafting put in.

    Fenn's Treasure

In some interviews he has made it sound like he walked there from his car. It took him (a 70yo man at the time) 2 trips from the car and approx 2 hours. That being said, I agree that some of the hints refer to a river and an area where people raft or kayak.

    Fenn's Treasure

True, especially with the speculation that Fenn included some of the stuff that would've gotten him in trouble in the chest; however some of that would probably get you in trouble when you went to sell it.

    Insight on new kifaru frame?

The issue of bowing in the hunter frame is due to people using the hunter frame to do things they should be using the tactical frame for. If you are hauling awkward loads that will cause bowing you should be using the tactical frame plain and simple, but people just buy the lightest option and...

    Fenn's Treasure

Is your father of the opinion that it's in NM? This seems to be the consensus but I'm not so sure. Based on my short research I think that I have a place narrowed down in CO that seems to fit the first 4 clues to a T, but it could just be naivete of just having learned of the treasure and...

    Fenn's Treasure

He has said that he doesn't think it will be found by accident. From what I have read it seems to be off trail by about 3-500 yards. I can't tell if it's buried or not, but based on some of his comments it doesn't seem like it is.

    Insight on new kifaru frame?

I'm honestly curious about the simplicity argument. What's different between the Fortess 6300 and an Argali? To me they're both tubes; but the Argali has the capability to add a belt pouch or two on if you want, but you don't have to use them. There's also the old Highcamp 7000 that is even more...

Kifaru vs Stone Glacier: Most versatile

Just an FYI in case you didn't hear/watch, Aron said in the video that no 28" version of the new frame will be released right now, but didn't rule it out for the future. I plan on replacing my 26" for day hunting/light use, but I'll keep my 28" tactical for serious hauling and backpacking.
