AB raptor owners--POI shift between +reflex and no reflex?

My gut says that's getting past the point of diminishing returns. Going from 4 to 6 has 50% more baffles, 6 to 8 has 33% more baffles. I bet the difference even with the bigger reflex is substantial.

AB raptor owners--POI shift between +reflex and no reflex?

@ElPollo Yep, same. Everyone says "lower dB, lighter weight" for a flush 8 vs reflex 6, but I think I prefer the 6 with reflex. Better tone, less length, weight to me is a wash in terms of how the rifle handles since the extra is all behind the muzzle. My preference for "lighter/smaller than 8...

    Match bullet shot placement

There's multiple pictures in the various small bullet threads of guys sending .22 cal 77 TMK, 88 ELDM, 6mm 108 ELDM, etc through the big bone part of moose and elk shoulders. Send it with confidence.

AB raptor owners--POI shift between +reflex and no reflex?

Also, for anyone wanting to put one on an AR, check this out. CGS Hyperion muzzle device threads to ½x28, protects threads/muzzle doing AR type stuff, has ⅝x24 threads outside, and fits perfectly inside a bull barrel reflex (or flush mount). I would not change a thing on my SPR-ish AR. Edit...

AB raptor owners--POI shift between +reflex and no reflex?

I have a 6 and an 8, with bull and standard reflexes (both 3"). My (half deaf) summary of my experience would be, reflex helps tone a bunch but not a huge dB difference vs flush. I keep reflexes on pretty much all the time. Easy to hear the difference between flush and reflex mount. You would...

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

When you have every single person (lots of them with a lot of experience/knowledge in the field you're discussing) telling you that you're saying a lot of very verbose nonsense, what is your reaction? I'd humbly suggest that there are, broadly speaking, three possible directions of thought and...

    UM/S2H/Suppressors/Scopes and More!

Can I bitch about those guys? Is this a turtles all the way down situation?

    UM/S2H/Suppressors/Scopes and More!

That's what I figured, also the barrel length and firing schedule restrictions bring the appeal down quite a bit.

    UM/S2H/Suppressors/Scopes and More!

@Formidilosus do you have any first hand experience with the old GAP Jager OTB cans? I think they've gone to a flush mount, and my assumption is that they are kind of like a TBAC U5 "barely a suppressor" but the old ones always interested me.

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

Clear ballistic gel is not useful as you state, but properly calibrated organic gel is a very different thing, and really does provide useful information for how a bullet behaves in tissue.

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

Ok so here's an idea I have. What if we put telemetry equipment on cars, do laps at the nurburgring, then put together a number that combines acceleration, top speed, lateral grip, and we could use that number to figure out the lap times a car should be able to do at the nurburgring! Time to get...

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

For the record, I don't think you're a troll. I think you're genuine and good-faith. I think there are moments where you get a little "Terrance Howard on Joe Rogan"-ey with the stuff that feels like "here are the theoretical concepts I've come up with to explain why all the experienced people in...

SAC bushing in Redding die making decap pin too short

Decapper in type s dies has a threaded rod so you can adjust pin depth. Loosen this collar, and you can run your decapper down. Retighten (it acts like a lock nut) and be on your way.

Questions about the irrelevance of energy (ft-lbs)

It's not just that it's not predictive as a metric, it's not a major determining factor in the wound characteristics. Bullet construction? Absolutely. Impact velocity? Yes, for sure. Bullet mass? To some extent, yes. Less than the other two for sure. The amount of energy required to do the...

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Ehh, I've not put an OTM into a deer. I do keep an AR truck gun filled with them, and based on my coyote, badger, etc experience I'd expect them to tumble and exit big 1/3, tumble/fragment and probably no exit/small exit 1/3, and pencil through 1/3. Total guess though.

.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

General consensus is that the 77OTM (whether Sierra, Nosler, or Hornady) is an erratic performer; you will get some great kills as it does sometimes upset well. However, you'll get lots of times where it pencils through with no upset. 77TMK, 73ELDM are the top performing AR mag length friendly...

    OHRSS

Haha, as a former Iowegian (moved to Idaho before all the straight wall common sense took hold) I approve this message. Shotgun slugs are dumb, and I still resent the state of Iowa for the bad habits I incurred shooting them from 1998-2009.

Avery vs. JvB - Podcast Back and Forths

Can you show an example of this? You might get called a Fudd if you claim that the .30-06 is needed for reliable killing, or that less than a .30-06 is unethical, but simply using or preferring it is not something I've seen called out (other than just some good natured ball-busting).
