    10mm shot shell ?

Haven't tried it personally but .40 CCI's do work out of 10mm's. Cant say what MER for those are but I'm sure you could get close enough to a grouse or ptarmigan for them to be effective.

Late Season Mountain Hunt & COLD A** FEET

If you plan on hunting in the winter I'd recomend getting some boots with some proper insulation, unless you just like pain. Get some schnees or Hoffman pac boots, or something with a MINIMUM of 400gr insulation, as with everything everyone is different when it comes to cold tolerance, fit etc...

    Steve Rinella meat freezing method

Been doing this for 20+ years, hard pass on the expense and durability issues with vac sealing big game. My preference is to vac seal fish and some small game and use plastic & butcher paper for big game cuts. If you guys are grinding your own burger, do yourself a favor and buy burger bags...

Any Mechanics? 2001 Tundra Brake Issues

Sounds like rotor/drum issue to me.

    Tourniquet Recommendations

I'm assuming whatever you got from the FD employee is fine..probably a CAT, expiration means nothing besides buaracratic bullshit regs. Next take it out of the plastic because that is packaging and should be removed anyway. If you really want to geek out, check out North American Rescue and or...

Seek Outdoors...Most bang for the buck?

SO has great customer service, if your interested in their shelters I would call them and they will happily point you in the right direction. It is hard to beat a 4 man mid with a 2 man nest, as far as weight and space is concerned IMO. However there are multiple other options that will/should...

    DIY Gamebags?

Uncoated ripstop nylon like this is a pretty inexpensive option, I have only used this fabric once and it worked well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2NDS-FABRIC-GRAY-1-35-OZ-NYLON-RIPSTOP-BREATHABLE-DWR-FABRIC-60-W-BY-THE-YARD-/333550409510?hash=item4da9275726 I have also used some 100% polyester...

    Switching to floorless.

Cant comment on SO as far as their DCF offerings but everything Ive had from them was top notch as quality goes. As for HMG, I have an Ultamid2 and it is great and I would recommend it highly. My U2 has enough room for 2 and gear but I would still recommend getting the 4 for the small weight/...

    Day hunting emergency shelter question

A tarp, puff jacket and butt pad are always with me. For a comfortable night away from camp bring what you were planning.

Seek Outside users - regret going with a big pack?

I have 2 6300's and I personally wouldn't go smaller for a hunting pack. For a primary backpacking pack my HMG 3400 is big enough for week long summer trips for me. With all that in mind I usually use my 6300 for backpacking trips especially when my wife and baby are in tow, it compresses down...

    Military style slings?

Well the firearm is held against your chest, which keeps it from flipping, shifting etc. Heres a good primer on how 2 point slings work, no matter the weapon platform.

    Military style slings?

Just to make sure we are all on the same page, you mean muzzle down? The flush cup setup is what your after if so.

    Critique my gear list

Very comprehensive list. Ideally Id take a big tipi for comfort, but your listed tent is plenty. Your 20deg bag along with your listed pad is fine. Might not hurt to bring a few more game bags, nice to be able to wash and rotate bags or have extras for loose cuts or marginal/bloodshot pieces...

    Sleeping Pad Preparedness

I have had pads fail on me twice, neither time could I locate the leak in the field or the tub at home. Both I sent back to the respective manufacturers for repair and they sent back new pads. I still carry tenacious tape and a small tube of uv aquaseal. For long trips I carry a torso length...

    Military Surplus Rain Gear Experienes

I used that stuff a fair amount, wasn't the worst, wasn't the best, at the time I was happy to have it. Im pretty sure its just 2 layer gore paclite, so yea durability and waterproofness isn't great when compared to a quality 3 layer shell. Not sure if your on a tight budget or whatnot but if I...
